Just Juniper: spring has finally sprung
http://justjuniper.blogspot.com/2012/03/spring-has-finally-sprung.html
Wednesday, 21 March 2012. Spring has finally sprung. It's official, its March 21st - and spring has finally sprung! I need look no further than outside my back door to see buds-a-plenty springing into life - cherry blossom, hydranger and rose bud respectively. Felt moved by the effects of Spring Fever to have a go a curating my first Etsy Treasury List . . . see link below - "Spring has finally Sprung". Just Juniper: friends, food and vintage finds
http://justjuniper.blogspot.com/2011/08/friends-food-and-vintage-finds.html
Wednesday, 3 August 2011. Friends, food and vintage finds. However, then comes the endless washing, cleaning and drying of said items. Most of the above will find their way onto Juniper Retro, my etsy shop, where they can be reloved and rehomed. This little baby, however, will be finding a new home with me, as I love it. All in all - a lovely weekend of friends, wine, laughter, beaches, good food and thrifting - what more could one want? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Time To Cook – Online. September 26, 2015. Scotch Eggs are delicious, I think we can all agree that that is fact. Alas, they are also usually deep fried, and can thus be prone to being either overcooked or dry, or greasy or, heaven forfend, all three. Something needed to be done! Behold my new creation – The Scone Egg! Everything you love about scones and Scotch eggs in a single, warm, comforting bundle of deliciousness! Into a scone, took a bit of a detour and here we are at Scone Eggs! To ensure a liqu...

Time To Cook – Online. August 7, 2015. I spent a lot of our holiday in France prowling around patisseries and artisan boulangeries with eyes like saucers, admiring the delicate and stylish combinations of cream and fruit and chocolate and truffle and glaze and, and, and…. More of which will, no doubt, surface later on the blog as I shamelessly appropriate their ideas and flavour combinations for my own. So simple – flour, sugar, eggs, cream, baking powder. I just had to try them. And they were delicious,...

Time To Cook – Online. July 28, 2016. Refreshments from the 17th and 18th centuries. Back left: Cool Summer Drink, Back right: Mrs Yorke’s Lemonade, Front: Lemonada. A bumper-fun pack of recipes for you as I bid a brief farewell for the summer – there’s too many weeds in the garden and the fruit bushes are burgeoning! I’d hate you to get bored while I’m away, so I’ve prepared a few things for you to play with in the interim. It is served with Standby Cream, made from evaporated milk and lemon juice. ...

Time To Cook – Online. August 8, 2015. Another holiday-ish inspired post – Brissants! 8221; I hear you exclaim. Quite. Allow me to elaborate. Picture the scene…. The sun is barely over the horizon and the first decision of the day is already upon you: Brioche? Even the soothing balm of fresh coffee fails to make this no less stressful a judgement. Brioche: so rich, doughy, soft and comforting – but there’s no crunch! Croissants: so flaky, buttery and crisp – but there’s no substance! It’s the Cronu...

Time To Cook – Online. March 3, 2016. We’re back on the yeast this week, but to mitigate your groans of “Not AGAIN! 8221;, it’s an unusual and wonderfully quirky recipe. I’ve adapted it from a description found in John White’s. 8220;A Treatise on the Art of Baking”. From 1828, free copy available here. The rye layers are both darkened and slightly sweetened by the addition of a little treacle and delicately flavoured with caraway seeds. Neither is overpowering, and the addition of the white dough lay...
