Sep 26th, 2013 11:04 pm. With 72 foot long flying catamarans, the America's Cup was looking to become a once in a lifetime experience. Fortunately, business had me travelling to the San Francisco area, allowing me to enjoy some of the action up front! Thanks to Amy for sharing the picture! Later in the week, I took the opportunity to wander the docks a bit - here are both yachts moored shortly before they head out to the regatta:. What a contrast they form to the monohulls of the good old days!

Speed sailing and a bit of drama - yatpi. Speed sailing and a bit of drama. Oct 1st, 2014 05:31 pm. This is not a blog for speed sailing records. After all, my fleet of boats are mostly traditional wooden boats (Lady Free, Grace, and a dinghy), or simply rowing boats (three other dinghies). Not exactly America's Cup. That said, everything is relative, and if you want to get somewhere fast, you should anyway just board a plane. So here goes.

Lady Free started her sailing season around Bergen in mid March, and right now it is all about the excitement of starting a new offshore cruising season!
