Grand Designs?

A blog to record the progress of our extension. Monday, August 07, 2006. Things are mostly back to normal now. There are some small things the builders need to do (change some light fittings, partially re-tile some of the kitchen splashback, fit the door handles - so we can lock the door to the downstairs cloakroom, or rather, not trap ourselves in there as Mum did at the weekend! There'll be more pictures soon, as we have unpacked most of our things now and it looks a little more homely. We definitely h...

Grand Designs?: stairs and tiles

http://www.yearofnonsense.blogspot.com/2006/06/stairs-and-tiles.html

A blog to record the progress of our extension. Monday, June 12, 2006. Our builders have made lots of progress over the last week. As you can see from the photos, the stairs are in. And the bathroom floor has been tiled. The kitchen floor is now complete too - with the underfloor heating and concrete being finished late last week, the tiles went down on Friday. http://www.yearofnonsense.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html

A blog to record the progress of our extension. Sunday, April 23, 2006. Hello, having trouble uploading to the ntl web server so we are trying this instead. Here's the latest pictures; looks like the main build is almost watertight and the internal fix can start soon. You can see the earlier pictures online at http:/ www.lefthandedmonkey.com. Week 6 - bathroom nearly there. The dining room, without. Week 7 - looking through the hole in the back wall, we now have a roof! View my complete profile.

Grand Designs?: 26/06 update

http://www.yearofnonsense.blogspot.com/2006/06/2606-update.html

A blog to record the progress of our extension. Monday, June 26, 2006. Here are the latest pictures; getting ready for the final big push. The hallway, ready for the final coat of paint (and the radiator). Some views of the living/dining room where painting is almost finished. A view of the stairs and also a shot looking through the double doors to the new kitchen. Some shots of the kitchen - units and worktops almost complete. Looks good now all the the building stuff is removed. View my complete profile.

Grand Designs?: Bathroom and Kitchen update

http://www.yearofnonsense.blogspot.com/2006/06/bathroom-and-kitchen-update.html

A blog to record the progress of our extension. Friday, June 16, 2006. Bathroom and Kitchen update. Another week with lots of progress. The bathroom tiling is complete and the bath etc are being fitted. Some pictures of the tiles. The boiler installation has begun, but the new water supply hasn't been connected yet (see below for more details). The joiner has been fitting shelves in the alcoves in the living room/dining room (some of which has had the mist coat of paint too). More like a decade.

good intentions: January 2011

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Sunday, 23 January 2011. Is an interesting take on the 'mummy blogger' phenomenon and actually made even more interesting for the comments after it. So why I am I so hesitant about becoming part of this throng? Secondly, it wouldn't occur to me to write a blog post about something like that ordinarily, so why should being tagged make things different? Links to this post. Friday, 14 January 2011. Is this the solution to my blogging productivity? Links to this post.

good intentions: September 2010

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Sunday, 12 September 2010. Time to try again. For any old friends who might still be out there, no, not that type of trying. If it gets to May 2011 before I post again, maybe I'll have a rethink. But I should be able to do better than that, I hope. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). good intentions: Happy half-birthday!

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2012/07/happy-half-birthday.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Sunday, 22 July 2012. 6 months ago I was a lot more physically uncomfortable than I am now, sat on our deck on a squishy beanbag chair, sipping a glass of red as the sun (YES! Tamsyn is a lazy bugger and swings her legs around a bit, arches her back a little, but ultimately is content to lie around on her back unless one of us moves her to tummy. Then she'll tolerate it for a while before getting annoyed. She absolutely adores the Jumperoo though! At 45-5 months we ha...

good intentions: October 2011

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Friday, 21 October 2011. 23 weeks 5 days. Comparing pregnancies is starting to get a bit silly so I think after this post I'm going to stop referring to what it was like being pregnant with Gemma. Current bump size is about midway between 29 and 36 weeks size last time, I am 10st 4 lbs (20lbs heavier than when I got pregnant) which I think is about 2 lbs heavier than I reached when about to give birth last time! good intentions: Martha and Tamsyn - their birth story

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2012/01/martha-and-tamsyn-their-birth-story.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Saturday, 28 January 2012. Martha and Tamsyn - their birth story. Our girls are here! At 37 weeks and after a planned induction that was a little later than *actually* planned, they came into the world with relative ease and only a little fuss. If you're a man you might want to stop reading now, fingers in ears and 'lalalala' (or maybe not, there won't be too many graphic details! We were all discharged home on the Tuesday after the birth on the Sunday, which in hinds...

good intentions: Where does the time go?

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2012/05/where-does-time-go.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Tuesday, 8 May 2012. Where does the time go? OK a gap of a couple of months between posts is probably acceptable since we're dealing with baby twin girls as well as a particularly sprightly Gemma at the moment. But I do feel a little sad, as when Gemma was a baby I was pretty good at posting her milestones and what we'd been up to on a regular basis. We have now updated lefthandedmonkey.com. Tamsyn left, Martha right; at 14 and a half weeks. So what have we been up to?

good intentions: December 2010

http://good-intentions.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Friday, 31 December 2010. It's actually been a really tough year as well as a wonderful one. Gemma has come on so much in her physical, mental and social development and is a right little lovely monkey now (see http:/ lefthandedmonkey.com. Maybe we'll be able to plan our out of work lives to be a bit more fulfilling, and I can take pleasure from the little things and stop fretting over the big stuff. After all, we have so much to be thankful for. So thanks, 20...

The road to hell is paved with, etc. Sunday, 21 August 2011. And on re-reading it, I can't believe there were still people then who didn't know I was pregnant at 5 months. No chance of that this time. Links to this post. Monday, 8 August 2011. 13 weeks 1 day. Something is going on in my insides. I can't possibly be feeling any baby movements YET can I? A YEAR OF NOTHING NEW...you already have everything you need.

A YEAR OF NOTHING NEW. You already have everything you need. We are two friends vowing not to buy anything new in 2010. Saturday, January 1, 2011. I took a yoga class yesterday and the teacher had an interesting thing to say about resolutions. He explained how he'd probably made 30 or so in his lifetime and has never actually resolved anything by the end of each year that he has made one. Instead of making a resolution for the entire year, he suggested: Why not just try to do your best in each moment?

The Year of Obsessive Living. 365 Days of Narcissism. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Stuck on Day 11. Such a metaphor for my life. I simply cannot commit to doing something every single day of my life. Hell, I even try to take days off from parenting, which is not as easy as it sounds. I really, really want to do it but then I just get soooo tired. Driving home from class last night (because yes,. Grad school is back)I had decided to scrap this whole thing and just keep plugging away over at Broken Bananas.
