My first trip to Canada’s frozen north – in 2010 – came about like this. Shortly before Christmas 2009, looking for a break from being a desk bound lawyer, I emailed Blachford Lake Lodge. A remote resort in the Northwest Territories, which was looking for people to work in return for bed and board under the wwoofing scheme. Many thanks to Kris Schlagintweit.
