http://annquiltsblog.blogspot.com/2014/05/crazy-quilt-saga-repairs.html
160; Welcome to Ann Quilts. May 27, 2014. Crazy Quilt Saga - Repairs. This crazy quilt provides a good example of the different techniques that I use to help maintain aging silks. It also had a special problem - a silk ruffle on the edge, some of which was in really bad shape. I used three different techniques, depending on the type of damage in each patch:. Of the couching stitching in progress. For applying this silk. Of applying a patch.

Ann Quilts: Repairing Broken Lace
http://annquiltsblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/repairing-broken-lace.html
160; Welcome to Ann Quilts. May 11, 2015. This is a lovely Edwardian dress with loads of lovely lace. The lace was broken in a few places. Here's how I repaired it. Petals had broken away from the borders, leaving the flower crumpled and fraying. I decided not to cut any of the dangling thread ends, so as avoid risking more unraveling. I whipstitched the broken thread ends to the remaining lace. In progress, 1. In progress, 2. Quite honestly,...

Ann Quilts: Magic Vine
http://annquiltsblog.blogspot.com/2012/12/magic-vine.html
160; Welcome to Ann Quilts. December 26, 2012. This is the Magic Vine quilt I was working on in the photos in my. All I had to do was attach the borders to the center panel, baste it up, and start quilting. The appliqué on this quilt is exquisite, perfection. The fabric choices are just plain fun, with the prints often echoing the shapes of each species of flower. It looks like this quilt artist designed her own border vine shape. This on...

Ann Quilts: That Old Italian Block
http://annquiltsblog.blogspot.com/2012/11/that-old-italian-block.html
160; Welcome to Ann Quilts. November 13, 2012. That Old Italian Block. Although it sounds more like someone searching their memory for the right words, that truly is the name of this quilt pattern, "Old Italian Block". The owner of this quilt had been told that the name is Corn and Beans, but it's really not like any of the blocks by that name in Barbara Brackman's Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns. And the 1900 crazy quilt. Here are some...

Ann Quilts: Amazing Stars, part 2
http://annquiltsblog.blogspot.com/2012/03/amazing-stars-part-2.html
160; Welcome to Ann Quilts. March 24, 2012. Amazing Stars, part 2. Showed the repair work I did on a c. 1870 6-pointed star quilt. In this post, I will share photos of this wonderful collection of vintage fabrics. I think it's easy to assume that everything in the olden days was drab and pale, mostly brown, and nearly always calico. At least that's the traditional way to costume TV dramas about the 1800s! Older style, chintz like prints.
