The Beijing Shegs: January 2013
http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 14, 2013. Through the polluted haze. We live right in the center of this huge city and you can't even see the enormous buildings that are more than a block away. Everything is so gray and dreary. Ick Needless to say, we have been staying inside as much as possible this weekend! When we move back to the states, I will have so much more appreciation for clean, safe air to breathe. Friday, January 4, 2013. I had a big moment last week. I actually craved real Chinese food! Joel's school had t...

http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 21, 2013. Today is Will's first birthday! Just before I started writing this post, Joel and I were browsing through some photos from our very first days in China and I can't believe how much little Will has grown since we've been here! This is the very first picture we took in China! We were SO tired after our long trip. But Will still looked happy and chipper. He's changed so much since then! This is a more current picture.:). So happy birthday my little boy! I can hardly believe the love ...

The Beijing Shegs: Late night breathing problems
http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2014/03/late-night-breathing-problems.html
Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Late night breathing problems. I am deep in the midst of a pity party this week. Spring is finally here and the weather is warm, but we've been mostly stuck inside because the air has been so unhealthy. Today, it's 70 degrees out but. Will and I only ventured out once (quickly! In our pollution masks to buy groceries. It's absolutely miserable to not be able to go out and enjoy these warm days with our little boy. Holding tight on the subway! The ultimate Smart Car. Yes i mean no.

http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 5, 2014. Do you ever feel like you have lots you want to write down and then when you actually have time to sit and write it, you are suddenly incapable of recalling those things? I have been thinking for the last few days that I wanted to write a blog post, but for the life of me, I suddenly can't remember what about. Maybe if I just start writing, it will come to me. The Forbidden City from above. My happiest news is that spring is finally here! That's not fog my friends but toxic air.

The Beijing Shegs: December 2012
http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 10, 2012. After a few people expressed curiosity in our living situation here in Beijing, I thought I would post a little bit about where we live. Location, location, location! Our apartment is not that fabulous (the school pays our rent though, so I'm not complaining! Shopping is also pretty convenient, there is a huge mall across the street and I live right next door to a grocery store and if I need imported stuff, it's only a 15 minute walk to get to the import store. We have three be...

Saturday, May 18, 2013. Sony commercials, fake bottled water and a teething toddler. I have been trying to compose this blog post for the last two weeks! Finally, the conditions are right and I think I will actually be able to finish this post today. I have my microwave brownie in a mug made from the wonderful mix that my awesome mom mailed me, my apartment is clean and Will is napping. I'm keeping my finger crossed that he'll stay asleep long enough for my to get all of my thoughts down. Summer should b...

The Beijing Shegs: July 2013
http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 1, 2013. The title for this post is totally cheesy but it perfectly describes how I've been feeling since we landed in the beautiful USA last week. I was so focused on getting ready for the trip and on the 12 hour flight to Seattle that I hadn't really mentally prepared myself for all of the emotions that I would experience when I got here. But it was far too late to make any changes to our plans. And, before I forget, here is a copy of Will's Sony commercial that we did. Our "agent" gav...

The Beijing Shegs: February 2014
http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 20, 2014. Despite how nice it was to be home with our families and in America, it's nice be back in the good ol' Beijing. It's good to be back in our regular routine and be back in our apartment. Will especially missed all of his toys and was knee deep in them pretty much as soon as we walked through the door! We had a really great holiday in the States and a super fabulous week in Mexico over the break. Will got lots of much needed cousin play time. This beach bed was really fun until.

The Beijing Shegs: March 2013
http://theshegruds.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 20, 2013. Farewell to our heating. This is has a week that has made me ask "why are we here again? Would he have come all the way inside and dropped off my package? The more I thought about this yesterday the angrier I got. Who does that? Who just opens someone's front door? That's when I have to realize that he wasn't meaning to be rude, it's just different where I'm from and there's no sense in getting upset about it. It was a good lesson for me on just letting things go. In one month,...
