Imagination-Chariot: April 2012
http://imagination-chariot.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, 1 April 2012. Painting a goddess in Montpellier. Montpellier, in case you don’t know by now, is the beautiful town I inhabit in the south of France; near the coast but not right on it. Everyone there looks far too relaxed, by which I deduce they are all tourists. Probably the natives of Montpellier live in some other, well hidden spot. Or 'trick of the eye.' This is where the painting is intended to confuse the eye into believing what it sees is really there, and is often used indoors to depi...

Imagination-Chariot: The Swan Prince
http://imagination-chariot.blogspot.com/2014/04/the-swan-prince.html
Saturday, 12 April 2014. Last year I made an effort to fulfil some long cherished dreams. I had been promising myself for a while that I would make a wooden bird, with wings that flap up and down when you pull its string, and had started to make a working model of a heron out of cardboard. I looked out my original sketches to choose something suitable. I found pictures of parrots, cockatils (both the pink and white varieties), owls and herons: even a dodo. I still want to make the dodo. There...Some subj...

Imagination-Chariot: Of storks and snails
http://imagination-chariot.blogspot.com/2011/10/of-storks-and-snails.html
Friday, 14 October 2011. Of storks and snails. I am told that there are also eels, which are very nutritious and delicious I'm sure; I'm vegetarian so I don't really know. You may not immediately recognise these for what they are; manmade stork nests! More storks, happily perched. There are few predators to harass them here; maybe foxes? In other parts of France, the Alps for instance, there are wolves, but I don't think there are any near Montpellier. Posted by Kate Hirons. 15 October 2011 at 18:18.

Imagination-Chariot: May 2013
http://imagination-chariot.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, 31 May 2013. Green is the warmest colour. Finally, with an extracurricular dash of flair, Zeus fathered Hermes with Maia. The moral of this story is: never ask a favour from a Greek god, even if he is your father. And frogs, obviously. As this happy frog will tell you, after half a year of nature's coldest whites, greys and browns: no matter what anybody says, green really is the warmest colour. This area is called Falcon's Meadow, although I have not seen falcons here, but herons, and recently o...

iamb the walrus: Collaboration
http://iambthewalrus.blogspot.com/2013/08/collaboration.html
Sunday, August 25, 2013. Oh my god, I cannot understand how SpouseUnit works in his workspace. The dimensions are all wrong to me, no object is kept where it makes sense, and I don't care for his chair. Not at all. But we're working well together :) Yesterday, after an indiscretion at the local AC Moore (supply splurge for both of us) he started a side project with Poe's Raven. He did the image yesterday, and I did the lettering this morning. Here he is, putting in some inky blackness on that bird's wing!

iamb the walrus: On evidence, argument, and disbelief
http://iambthewalrus.blogspot.com/2013/09/on-evidence-argument-and-disbelief.html
Saturday, September 14, 2013. On evidence, argument, and disbelief. Hmm, not my best title, but it's fuck o'clock where I live and I've not had any coffee :). It was because I popped into wakefulness so early that I found my latest craw-stick thought. Sometimes when I can't sleep, but I don't want to leave the warm nest of my bed, with spouse and dog snoring beside me, I read the intertubes on my phone. Usually this will lull me back to sleep, but today I stayed up. Let's put on our tinfoil hats and try ...

Monday, September 30, 2013. I visited the Cloisters yesterday with a friend, and I took this shot from a staircase. I'm not editing it because I just realized how cool it is - there's very, very little in here to connote that this view is from 2013 and not far earlier :) Most of the light was sun, and the image of people wandering around the effigies in the shadows - it's fairly evocative! Imagination-Chariot: The Ramayana, in a nutshell
http://imagination-chariot.blogspot.com/2011/11/ramayana-in-nutshell.html
Thursday, 3 November 2011. The Ramayana, in a nutshell. The ruler of Ay. Odhya, King Dasaratha, decides to name one of his sons, Rama, crown prince. Rama is virtuous, skilled in battle, devastatingly good looking and everyone loves him. He’s also the son of Dasaratha’s first wife, Kaushalya, so he’s got everything going for him. But fate intervenes in the form of evil handmaiden Manthara. The brothers build a little hut for themselves and life in the Panchavati forest begins. The years pass quickly; ...
