Half a Cup of Blues. Thursday, April 28, 2005. When I was young. I saw a bum. He wore dirty clothes. His shoes did not fit him. His beard was long. His face was worn. I saw a bum. My clothes were clean. My shoes were new. My hair was clipped. My face was fresh. When I was grown. I saw a bum. His clothes had holes. His shoes had no soles. His hair was shaggy. His face was haggard. I saw a bum. My suit was tailored. My shoes were italian. My hair was trimmed. My face was tanned. When I was old. I saw a bum.

Half a Cup of Blues. Monday, September 26, 2005. We put over 700 miles on the truck this weekend and that was nothing compared to the driving my uncle did! We headed down to. For the BBQ cookoff. My uncle, Jerry King, drove all the way out from Midland, Texas. He was one of just 37 contestants in this brand new BBQ contest. I've never been to one of these but I'm sure going to go to some more. Some of the BBQ rigs were big! Ya reckon the family reunion that we had going on there distracted him? They make...

Half a Cup of Blues. Saturday, October 29, 2005. I love the smell of (good) food cooking. We headed out to the local farmer's market this morning so that I could pick up 5 large bunches of basil. Fresh pesto is nothing short of divine. While we were there I also grabbed a few bundles of. The one comfort food that I really do realy on on a regular basis is not a food at all. It is, as Edieraye pointed out in a comment, hot tea. I love a cup of hot tea when I'm stressed, when I'm feeling a cold com...With ...

Half a Cup of Blues. Sunday, July 24, 2005. Magic in the Emerald Forest . That's where I spent the weekend. 12 acres under the canopy of giant redwoods on the California coast near Trinidad. The fog rolled in and temperatures varied from the mid 50's to the low 60's. Just north, was beautiful. Wedding Rock (where we heard there really was a wedding going on) and Agate Beach were filled with flora and fauna that seem exotic compared to my hotter habitat inland. Posted by Michelle at 11:14 PM. BHD's house ...

Half a Cup of Blues. Thursday, September 06, 2007. Smoke From a (not so) Distant Fire. And I drove right by Lake Almanor. On our way home from Reno. This last Monday afternoon. We had to have been in the area just as the fire began. This is truly lovely forest land that is being engulfed right now. The morning news stated that they have been having 100' high walls of flames. The flames have been creating their own weather patterns by shifting wind flurries as the tops of trees explode.

Half a Cup of Blues. Monday, May 30, 2005. Jen wants to know . I couldn't reply in NewWaveGurly's Blog so I'll try linking to her from here instead (In the title! 10 Things I've Never Done:. 1 I've never written down the story (novel) that I have carried in my head for several years. 2 I've never let my dad know that I don't still blame him for walking out when I was a kid. 3 I've never skydived either, Jen, but I think I'd like to try it someday. 7 I've never had a tattoo on my body. Tag, you're it!

Half a Cup of Blues. Friday, December 30, 2005. Let it snow . This is Mount Shasta - where we'll all be tomorrow! We're getting all packed up (just bought the new cable chains for the 4x4 as I heard that I-5 is already closed and traffic is being detoured the long way around due to snow) and we'll be heading out tomorrow for a nice evening on the mountain (torchlight snowboarding for the boys until 11:30PM) then we'll ring in the 2006 New Year together as a family. Much love to you all. 5 replies so far .

Half a Cup of Blues. Monday, August 22, 2005. Back to School . I didn't sleep very well last night. I tossed and turned. I had bizarre dreams. I woke up tired and groggy. Today was the first day back for the teachers. The aides will be back on Wednesday and the students will come back next Monday. Our classrooms are a wreck since the floors were stripped and waxed. We had meetings all day today so I barely had time to even clean off my desk and chair. I'm glad that I was wrong. 6 replies so far . Nachos ...
