The Shoofly Project...: April 2012
http://theshooflyproject.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
About The Shoofly Project. A Love Letter to Robert. In 2010 Robert Reynolds. My dear teacher and friend, had cancer. But that year he battled it out and walked it off. He baked cakes for the nurses who shot chemo up his veins and snuck Armagnac into infusion rooms so as to properly celebrate the last shooting up. I'd say he went back. The first sign of the cancer's awakening was a word. His loss. That vast field is his home. To lose a word - Death to a writer. Robert's committed friend and caretaker, say...

The Shoofly Project...: May 2013
http://theshooflyproject.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
About The Shoofly Project. Every culture seems to ask a universal question of its cooks:. Hey, where’s the meat-filled bread? The Chinese – dim sum. The Polish fill pirogi. Armenians – Manti. With beef or yak. This multicultural culinary fact smacked me in the face again recently. A sweet little spot,. Just opened around the corner from me in Baltimore. Specialty Buns. Reads the gold lettering on the front door, and inside the pastry case reads out their rift on that universal question. The. Looking back...

Everything Better Pittsburgh: December 2012
http://everythingbetterpgh.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2012. 2012: Definitely an Improvement. In these final hours of the year, here's a look at some of my favorite moments and posts. I started the year by repeating a move that took me into the worse year of my life. I was a little anxious to kick 2012 off in the same way. But I figured I was more prepared and at that point mostly acting on gut decision. Coming out of the Mon on New Year's Day. Love that this is becoming a tradition. Tomorrow will be my third jump in a row. We went ate b...

Everything Better Pittsburgh: June 2013
http://everythingbetterpgh.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 30, 2013. RIP PIG - 6/30/13. Guys I am sad. This is the first setback I've had to experience in my 30s. The trade of Tyler Kennedy to the Sharks is upsetting - for me - and maybe only me. I don't know when I came to love Tyler Kennedy so much, but it happened. I've become proud, in a way, that my love of Tyler Kennedy has made the whole "Pig" thing kind of a thing! When I'm at the Consol and Kennedy scores, it's kind of crazy how many people turn and shout "PIGGGGY" at me. I'm giving credit ...

Everything Better Pittsburgh: Sweep. :/
http://everythingbetterpgh.blogspot.com/2013/06/sweep.html
Friday, June 7, 2013. Well That did not go according to plan. Should I be more upset? Maybe But, getting completely walloped has the benefit of never getting one's hopes up. This past week has been a lot of putting things in perspective. It doesn't matter that we lost (I mean, of course it matters a bit and would have been awesome to win! Because I still get to turn 30 next week. I still get to spend next weekend celebrating with friends in all manner of ways. I still get to go on vacation!

Everything Better Pittsburgh: Here Comes Summer: The Three Rivers Arts Festival
http://everythingbetterpgh.blogspot.com/2013/06/here-comes-summer-three-rivers-arts.html
Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Here Comes Summer: The Three Rivers Arts Festival. A) How is it already June 4th? Winter was so long and miserable and awful. Of course summer would officially start by going by in the blink of an eye. Right now I am on overdrive at work, trying to get as much done before my weeklong birthday adventure through Ontario. I look up from my work and it's 5:30 and I can't believe another day is behind me. B) How is it already time for the Three Rivers Arts Festival? MONDAY: Pittsburgh S...

A Drop in the Three Rivers...: November 2011
http://adropinthethreerivers.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
A Drop in the Three Rivers. Just a woman in love with Pittsburgh. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. I had a plan for a blog for today, especially because I haven't really written a good post in a week. But recent events have led to me having a heavy heart and not quite feeling like myself. So for this, the final day of NaBloPoMo, I leave you with a verse I'll be meditating on:. For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you" - Isaiah 41:13. I've cer...
