Saturday, October 2, 2010. The drive from Bozeman to Teton National Park is a long one, even on a day when the weather and scenery are perfect. The head start we got when we landed early disappears in negotiations at the rental car desk. Why would anyone think we could use a Camaro to drive through the Park? Sunday, August 7, 2011. Fog lifts slowly from Lake Quinault, rising in a gray cloud. An emerald lawn stretches from the deck to the lake shore where row boats bob gently up and down in the waves. The deck of Lake Quinault Lodge is empty now, but yesterday afternoon, a wedding was held in the white gazebo on the west. We did something a little different this trip - we spent a week in Glacier National Park, the last week before the Going to the Sun Road closed for the year. It is finally getting dark. Dusk this time of year in Yellowstone comes around 9:00 pm, almost the same as in Texas. We arrived in Bozeman to rain and 48 degrees. Gray clouds envelope the city. As we pick up supplies, the locals deny the cold, shopping and doing errands in T-shirts and sandals. Displays of sun dresses and shorts and garden furniture seem out of place. The wood stove is finally churning out some heat as rain taps steadily on the cabin roof. We may even wake up to snow in the morning.

Days are much warmer, sometimes reaching the 90s. Wolves and other wildlife take to the trees, resting in the woods in the heat of the day. I have never seen Yellowstone in summer and I would love to see the wildflowers that bloom in July and the Lamar Canyon pups on their first adventures from den. Christine Baleshta - July 2015.
