Missionary Experience: April 2009
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2009. High for the Day. When I say high, I mean the temperature. Today we reached a new high in the classroom during one of our afternoon classes: 95 degrees, and if possible, it felt hotter, but maybe that's just the polyester talking. On the positive side, the pants I am wearing today are grey like the pants of our uniform, but are not, in fact, the pants of my uniform. So, they are made of a lighter material and not nearly as hot. Why did I buy these pants? Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Missionary Experience: January 2010
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 19, 2010. And you all thought I was never going to post again. Well, the thought had crossed my mind. But then last night happened. I gave my first presentation about my experience in El Salvador! My dad scheduled me up to speak at the local Lions Club (of which he is a member) and I did last night. When I wrapped up at the end, every point I had intended to cover had been hit by their questions, and then some! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Every donation of any a...

Missionary Experience: May 2009
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 29, 2009. I know I haven´t posted for awhile, but that is because the only thing I have been thinking about is my trip home next Tuesday! So what has happened since that huge donation on Saturday? Nonetheless, they are all excited that I am going home and expect chocolate when I return. Nice to be loved, right? Saturday, May 23, 2009. What a couple of days! Yesterday we had a half day of classes and after noon the festivities began for the feast of Maria Mazzarella. First all the students...

Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Immigration - Part 394. I went to Immigration today, they had my coffee waiting for me just the way I like it. Okay, I don't go THAT often, but I think I can get a job there once I have my Visa because I'll know intimately how immigration works by then. After having my translated documents translated again and notarized by a lawyer (so happy we know someone at the lawyer's office, I didn't have to pay! Oh yeah, and the illegal time in El Salvador? 11 days = $114. Thanks to the...

Missionary Experience: March 2009
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, March 29, 2009. Last night, after returning from the beach, I sat down to dinner with the Sister's. After dinner they turned on the TV (the only TV, it's in the dining room) and lo and behold, there was a soccer game on between El Salvador and the USA! The game was live and taking place in San Salvador (which would account for the heavy traffic we met when returning from the beach.). Did I mention the Sister's have been teaching me bad words in Spanish? I love these ladies. The Cook . . . As Soli...

Missionary Experience: I'm in Taiwan
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2010/03/im-in-taiwan.html
Friday, March 19, 2010. But not as a missionary, I'm visiting my sister, Tanya, who has been here for 2 years now teaching English as a second language. Since so many people wanted to know what I would be doing, I'll record it here on my blog. And I like writing about my experiences, so this is great for me! I have to admit, I never had a desire to visit any country in the Orient, but when your sister lives in one of those countries, it's too great an opportunity to pass up. And now I am here. Because Ta...

Missionary Experience: What to Visit in Taiwan
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2010/03/what-to-visit-in-taiwan.html
Monday, March 22, 2010. What to Visit in Taiwan. Here are some interesting places to visit around Taipei that I found on my map of Taipei. I think they're funny. Museum of Drinking Water. Puppet Drama Memorial Museum. Miniature Museum of Taiwan. Taiwan New Cultural Movement Memorial Hall. They sure like their museums and memorials). National Museum of History (to cover everything not mentioned in every other museum). Taipei Youth Party (mind you, this is a place to visit; do they really party 24/7? A new...

Missionary Experience: September 2009
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Today, we danced. With big skirts that you swish around and they look like waves rolling on the ocean. The teachers, and the new volunteers, practiced a dance with the big skirts and performed it this morning for Buenas Dias. The students, of course, loved it and cheered and took pictures. Are students like that in the United States? Tuesday, September 29, 2009. It´s finally happening: Solidea is leaving. Tomorrow. Sometimes I wonder if we would have become friends if we ha...

Missionary Experience: August 2009
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2009. I am asking a clarification question on what has already been said. Me: So the teachers want to change the schedule of classes for next year? Sister: No, this year is over. Me: Right, so they want to change the schedule for next year. Sunday, August 30, 2009. I never did say what happened with the door to my room, but it`s all fixed now. Swings open and closed without effort and the doorknob locks and unlocks just like it`s supposed to. :) Good times. Saturday, August 29, 2009.

Missionary Experience: Adjusting
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009/11/adjusting.html
Thursday, November 19, 2009. What have I been doing now that I'm home? Throwing my toilet paper into the toilet - not the garbage. Singing along to English music. Eating everything in the fridge! Had a sandwich for breakfast, because I can! Talking a lot (English is so much easier than Spanish). And I have not put any bug spray on since I have been home! November 19, 2009 at 10:15 AM.
