Wednesday, August 8, 2012. Walking the Shoreline from South Baymouth to Providence Bay. I was told it would take three days to walk the shoreline of Manitoulin Island from South Baymouth to Providence Bay. It’s 50 kms. I told my family I'd be back in four; a) because I didn't want anyone worrying if I was a little late, and b) because I wanted the option of taking my time. To chill on a rock when it amused me. To contemplate life beside the open water. I packed food for four days. I hate to go hungry.

Wednesday, February 4, 2015. Finding Gratitude in Odd Places. M sitting on the side of the road. My car has no sign of life in it. And I am filled with gratitude. Seriously. I've just dropped my daughter off at karate and am heading back home where I'm supposed to be teaching a yoga class in 15 minutes when the car sputters and dies. And the feeling that surges up in me is gratitude. A few years ago it would have been rage, or helplessness. I am grateful that this has happened after.

Monday, April 4, 2011. Beware: Yoga May Lead to Meditating. My parents are concerned about my affinity for yoga. Not because of my recent SI joint injury. That's nebulous at best. They didn't know I had an SI joint. Nor is it because I'm teaching in Jamaica for a week and leaving my husband and kids behind. No, apparently their concern is that my yoga practice may lead to meditating. My teachers are far more concerned that it won't. But it's too late mom and dad. I do meditate. Such a do-able start.
