Deniz was introduced to yoga when she was 20. Although it was not a way of life for her in the beginning, soon enough her mom, who was living a yogic way of life and teaching yoga classes in Ankara, Turkey attracted her attention and lured her to move back to Ankara (from Istanbul) and join her to practice, teach and live a yogic way of life. After years of practicing alone, she finally had the opportunity to practice with Hamish Hendry in the parampara tradition when she moved to London in 2011.

Ankara Ataturk Lisesi'nde edebiyat öğretmenliği ve Ankara Üniversitesi'nde Türk Dili okutmanlığı yaptı. Yogayla emekli olduktan sonra tanıştı. Yogayla tanışmak onun hayatında gerçekten de yeni bir dönemin başlangıcı oldu. Çünkü yoga, tüm sorularının cevabını verdi; ona huzurlu ve uyumlu bir yaşamın kapılarını açtı. Defalarca yoganın doğduğu topraklara, Hindistan'a giderek kendisini beslemeyi ve geliştirmeyi amaçlayan Serpil Öztürk, halen yaşamını öğrenci ve öğretmen olarak sürdürmektedir.
