Oh definitely.: July 2008
http://twizzlersnyc.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2008. Two updates in one day? I'm hanging onto the no-sugar-wagon for dear life. That's who I am. This was like a war between those two brain states. I got off the treadmill after a minute thirty to spare myself the mental agony and potential breast tissue damage. I finally settled, begrudgingly, for some cashews and an apple. Same as yesterday's late afternoon snack. Nuts and fruit. Fuck that. I like those things, don't get me wrong. But nuts are so high calorie! So I got back to my d...

Oh definitely.: August 2008
http://twizzlersnyc.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 29, 2008. Homeward Bound, Jet Plane, etc. Leaving my office in about 15 minutes for the airport! I do love to travel. :). I didn't workout yesterday, I was so exhausted when I got home from work. I did some very light yoga, mostly for body alignment and relaxation, during Obama's speech last night. But beyond that, it wasn't happening. We ended up using our dinner gift certificate last night. The place was a short walk from our house - I can't believe we never knew it was there! I'm actual...

The Straphanger Gang: October 2007
http://straphangergang.blogspot.com/2007_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Wednesday, October 3rd. It rained before I woke up (6:30a). The ground was wet, but drying and the air was so humid that when you move quickly, you sweat. To get to work at 9:30am ("early" shift after an event), but I also. To finish all my laundry before work. I managed to do both by running/speed walking to the train, which I caught as it screamed into the station. But, as I was hustling by the Dunkin. They are wrong (which the probably are). It won't get you anywhere. Anoth...

The Straphanger Gang: Monday, December 3rd
http://straphangergang.blogspot.com/2007/12/monday-december-3rd.html
Monday, December 3, 2007. Monday, December 3rd. I didn't write in October or November! Bright sun, blue sky (welcomed weather after this past weekend's snow storm, then rain fall). The Bronx. 36 degrees. Metro North to Grand Central. Once the conductor with a thick 70s ballplayer mustache sauntered up to my row, I explained the machine was broken and I'd have to buy my ride from him. He looked down at me and said, "Well, maybe we can work something out. How much've you got? He quickly said, "Ok then.".

The Straphanger Gang: Last week: In the Blink of an Axl
http://straphangergang.blogspot.com/2008/08/last-week-in-blink-of-axl.html
Monday, August 4, 2008. Last week: In the Blink of an Axl. So, I'm riding the N to work late last week, when I noticed that the train car was having one of those rare moments-of-silence, where not even the train seems to make any noise. And just as I closed my eyes to begin to relax into that silence and calm, a large, muscular, mustacheo-ed, middle-aged man wearing a cheap-looking snap-button-up 70s floral-patterned shirt and these huge, old headphones sat on me. Guns N' Roses "November Rain". I can cer...

The Straphanger Gang: July 2007
http://straphangergang.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2007. Tuesday, July 31st. Last day of July: how can that be? Beautiful, light blue skies. 75 degrees. Left the house at 8:14am. N: Cloudless skies meant only a few "brave" commuters actually left the protection of the station's awning for the outer reaches of the platform and into the uninterrupted sunlight. I was enveloped by the marvelous solar warmth as I strolled slowly to the end of the practically-abandoned platform. I asked myself as I looked back to see not a single. Way, mornin...

The Straphanger Gang: September 2008
http://straphangergang.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 5, 2008. I have to be straight with you, dear reader: ignoring is bliss. So, I have to tell you something. I made a conscious decision to cut down on my daily subway reports because, well, frankly, it was getting to me. Many of you have approached me in search of the answer as to why I've been such a slacker at reporting the news of what, and who, is down there. So, I must come clean to everyone. Anyway. There are some positive changes to report. The new N trains are great. Clean an...

The Straphanger Gang: Why Can't We Be Friends
http://straphangergang.blogspot.com/2008/07/why-cant-we-be-friends.html
Friday, July 25, 2008. Why Can't We Be Friends. POSTER: "Lean on your best friend for the $50 he owes you. But don't lean on the subway doors. It's dangerous- you block other people.". MTA, we need to talk. You need to get over this "best friend" of yours. I know, I know. He promised that you guys would get to hang out. Promised that you guys would be together from Coney Island to City Island. But, MTA. He isn't giving you your money back. MTA, he's not coming back. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
