송영애 작가 노트중 에서. 우리가 살아가는 삶의 현실(고난, 소외, 상처 등)을 통하여 결국에는 외소 해저만 가는 우리들의 모습을, 문명의 이기에 치여 상실되어만 가는 우리들의 모습을 나의 삶과 예술로 전이시켜 절망대신 희망 기쁨 그리고 소망의 모습을 추상화된 상들로 제시하고 싶다. 본인의 작품 속에 표현된 형상과 색채는 암시적이고 상징적이며 은유적이다. 무형의 수많은 과거 기억들이 이미지화 되는 절제된 조형언어를 통해 자유로운 해방감으로 공간을 나타내려 했으며 대상을 생략하고 단순화, 왜곡, 변형시켜 실제 이것을 다시 지우고 파괴하고 또 비우는 과정을 통해 전체가 살아 있는 생명력을 느끼는 새로운 공간으로서 여러 복합 매체를 사용하여 표현하려 했다. 작업 중에 중심을 이루고 있는 가장 기본적인 요소는 나에 대한 탐구, 여전히 무엇인지 확실히 정의 내릴 수 없는 정신세계나 내면세계의 탐구이다. 눈에 보이지 않으면서도 보이는 것. 들리지 않아도 들리는 것. 보이지 않은 것에서 무엇인가를 보며,.
