When Kat and I were in Skye. Sunrise from the ferry looking north toward Dunoon. Tile floor and sinks, The Victorian Toilets. Chapel ruins, Rothesay Castle. In Britain someti...

The Young Man from Canada: May 2005
http://youngmanfromcanada.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
The Young Man from Canada. A Canadian exchange student abroad. Friday, May 20, 2005. Settle-Carlisle Line and Halifax Beer Festival. On Friday morning I was up early to catch the 6:50 train from Glasgow Central on my long and roundabout journey down to Oxford to meet Leslie and her sister Sarah. So first it was the 6:50 train to London Euston and then I alighted at Carlisle to change to the Settle-Carlisle line. Oh, how long have you been in England then? Also, the many posters reminded me that buying a ...

The Young Man from Canada: January 2005
http://youngmanfromcanada.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html
The Young Man from Canada. A Canadian exchange student abroad. Wednesday, January 26, 2005. No more ceilidhs for me. Well, no more ceilidh classes anyway. I had fun at the Glasgow University ceilidh class but since they lost their regular caller I haven't been learning much more there. I'm proficient enough to dance every ceilidh I've been to so I feel it's time to move on to other things. Namely the Hamilton and Clydesdale branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS). Me and the Mallard.

http://youngmanfromcanada.blogspot.com/2004_12_01_archive.html
The Young Man from Canada. A Canadian exchange student abroad. Wednesday, December 22, 2004. Family arrived on Monday and we've been touring around Glasgow for two days now. I kind of figured this would happen but I've ended up seeing more of Glasgow in the past two days than I have in the past three months! Posted by JDF at 22.12.04. Sunday, December 19, 2004. The Quest for Eggnog. Did you know that they don't drink eggnog in Britain? I had no idea. I just assumed that it was a British thing, part o...

The Young Man from Canada: February 2005
http://youngmanfromcanada.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html
The Young Man from Canada. A Canadian exchange student abroad. Monday, February 28, 2005. On February 13 I woke up early hoping to catch the train to Fort William. The weather turned out to be cloudy despite the forecast the day before for sun, so I instead headed to New Lanark. New Lanark as from road into the valley. Tenement rows, New Lanark. A spinning mule in one of the mill buildings. This is still operational and I got to see it working. The Clyde and valley. The Falls of the Clyde. Well, I headed...

The Young Man from Canada: March 2005
http://youngmanfromcanada.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html
The Young Man from Canada. A Canadian exchange student abroad. Thursday, March 31, 2005. Trains Planes and Automobiles. Besides being a great Steve Martin and John Candy movie, it has been my life for the past few days. To make sure I would get up, I set three alarm clocks on my shelf before I went to bed. In the end I woke up half an hour before they all went off. I had a quick shower and got my things, and headed out of Birkbeck Court to Glasgow Central. I made it to Heathrow and checked in without a p...

The Young Man from Canada: October 2004
http://youngmanfromcanada.blogspot.com/2004_10_01_archive.html
The Young Man from Canada. A Canadian exchange student abroad. Saturday, October 30, 2004. Well in this entry. I promised a follow-up on the Scottish beer that I have tried. Well, there has been a bit more since then and I can say I've had some truly fabulous ones, and some real stinkers. When Jessica and I went to Borders to see Michael Palin, we walked by a table that had the 2005 Good Beer Guide which is published every year by CAMRA. Posted by JDF at 30.10.04. Monday, October 25, 2004. In Britain you...
