All roads lead to….home | On the Axis
https://ontheaxis.wordpress.com/2013/09/15/all-roads-lead-to-home
More than one standard deviation away from the norm. All roads lead to….home. With the news that my father is, once again, unwell, I find myself, as I have before, wondering what the funeral service for a Muslim atheist might be like. Yes, we have asked him, though not for a while. But at the last time of asking what sort of send-off he envisaged, he replied “A Christian burial.”. My Father’s house has many rooms. My father will probably be here this time next year. Insh’Allah. A tribute to my father.

Poetess, book lover, chemist, writer, mother, artist, HSP… wild woman. Fiction books I love. The Gallery (my portfolio). Overwhelm, publishing and our favourite children’s books. Rebecca Ann Smith – How it’s really going when you ask me how it’s going
http://www.rebeccaannsmith.co.uk/how-its-really-going-when-you-ask-me-how-its-going
How it’s really going when you ask me how it’s going. Feb 06, 2015. Friends and family members have been asking me how it’s going with the rewrite. Which is sweet of you. I’m grateful for your interest, sincerely I am. Only, what mostly happens is I look shifty, and say ‘Erm, you know.’ And look at the floor. Then I make something up, something I think sounds like a reasonable response. So, now I know a bit more about the technicalities of writing, about how to control pace and suspense, and how to struc...

A prayer utters itself | On the Axis
https://ontheaxis.wordpress.com/2012/04/29/a-prayer-utters-itself
More than one standard deviation away from the norm. A prayer utters itself. Today, on the Sunday generally known as Good Shepherd Sunday, my thoughts as usual turn to…. Still my favourite Quentin Tarantino film. The reason why is probably obvious: the film’s closing dialogue involves gangster Jules Winnfield (played by Samuel L. Jackson) saying this:. That experience of reaching helplessly for a prayer was part of Howard Storm’s conversion experience as told to the Catholic Herald. Tags: Carol Ann Duffy.
