There is one simple mechanical issue you can make sure of to hit for more power. Be certain your front foot is planted on the ground before starting your swing. It may not sound like much, but you generate much of your power from your hips. Do me a favor and get out of your chair and stand up. Take the same step, but this time, wait...

http://youthhittingtips.blogspot.com/2011/02/hit-ball-where-it-is-pitched.html
Youth Hitting Tips is designed to share hitting tips about the game of baseball with players, coaches and parents. Sunday, February 20, 2011. Hit the Ball Where It is Pitched. Let’s face it. Everyone that plays baseball want to hit home runs. Nike had a famous commercial in the 1990s that had Atlanta Braves’ pitchers Greg Maddox and Tom Glavine. It showed them training to become hitter after realizing that “chicks dig the long ball.”. Most coaches have the same philosophy, especially at the high school l...

Youth Pitching Tips is designed to share pitching tips about the game of baseball with players, coaches and parents. Friday, January 28, 2011. Breaking Up Home Plate. Though the course of a season, there are going to be games when a pitcher feels “locked in” or “in the zone” and other times when he struggles to find the strike zone with any consistency. While confidence plays a big role, if you are in a slump, how do you get out of it? At the start of an at-bat, break home plate into five sections –...

Youth Pitching Tips is designed to share pitching tips about the game of baseball with players, coaches and parents. Thursday, March 17, 2011. Checking For a Bunt. With runners on base, an easy way for a pitcher to check for a sacrifice bunt is to attempt a pickoff. A batter will usually turn and show a bunt at the pitcher's first movement. http://tothetopperformance.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Learning lessons from sports and life. Friday, January 21, 2011. My cousin posted this on a social networking site. Being that it is my family, I'll take his word. Pitched 18 years for the Cleveland Indians. He won 266 career games, was an eight time All-Star and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He won 20 or more games in six seasons, pitched more than 300 innings in three seasons and finished with an ERA below 3.00 in five seasons. Let's quit taking it for granted. Links to this post. I fell up...

http://tothetopperformance.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Learning lessons from sports and life. Saturday, February 26, 2011. St Louis Cardinals' starting pitcher Adam Wainwright was recently diagnosed with a torn ligament in his pitching elbow that will require surgery and end his season days after it started. I was fortunate to never sustain a major injury that would require surgery. It has to be devastating. He was apparently worried that something wasn't right and was scared to pitch. Links to this post. Tuesday, February 22, 2011. In anther story that is f...

A Lesson From...: August 2010
http://tothetopperformance.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Learning lessons from sports and life. Monday, August 30, 2010. The Japanese Little League team. First off, I have to congratulate the Japanese Little League World Series team for capturing the World Series crown. They were a talented group that played well. The beauty of baseball is that it is a team game, but at the same time, is a series of individual battles. In this case, it was pitcher versus hitter. But the hitter was getting help from the Japanese runner at second base. Links to this post. I don'...
