I dont know why, but for me, lightning bugs equal the official start of summer. not pools, not memorial day and cookouts, but nature at its best. the glow of a little bug that brings me such fond memories of the warm yellow 'light' emitting after dark. chasing them around the yard when i was eight, my parents on the porch laughing and pointing me which way to go.
