Over the past couple of years this species has struggled due to severe weather events, with last year being particularly difficult as reported here. Elusive Hawfinch 'shows a bit of leg'. I recently received an email from Barry Farquharson, a local birdwatcher who has become rather good at reading - and photographing - colour-ringed birds (usually gulls).
