TERENZO BOZZONE: March 2013
http://terenzo.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
So last weekend didn't really go to plan down in Taupo. I was really looking forward to Nutri-Grain Ironman NZ this year as it has been a while since my last full distance Ironman and this year for the first time in my Ironman career the weather down in Taupo for the race was going to be magical. By the end of the bike I was actually feeling very distressed. I am used to pushing my body but this was different as the both body and brain were completely at odds with doing anything remotely like running...

Challenge Rimini Half - 6th. It has been a great week here in Rimini and I have really enjoyed the change in pace. It seems Italy time is a lot like "island time" and when it comes to meals this place is off the chart. I love good food and there has been plenty of it the past few days, but I have been hanging out for some good italian wine so as soon as I finish this update …. A great experience, one I wish I could have shared with Kelly, counting down the weeks until I see her – at 2 now. Back to LA for...

I just finished my first race of the season. Ironman 70.3 Florida in Haines City. The race venue used to be at Orlando Disney World but has moved down here the past couple years and while I would have been exciting to race with Mickey Mouse the venue down here was pretty awesome. Again, the run was the furthest thing from what you would expect for a race in Florida. A 3 lap course with a couple good climbs that you really felt on the 2. Https:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Ironman 70.3 St. George - 6th. I guess all those years of running on the track back in high school are still paying off…. In case you are wondering – I wore a black band around my arm in memory of good friend and amazing massage therapist who took his life 6 weeks ago. Ian McKellar was great person and will be missed greatly. I have not taken off my 2XU compression socks and quads sleeves since the race. Birthday: 1 March 1985. Education: Two years Physiotherapy; 1 year Business Degree. 6th Ironman 70...

My last Ironman 70.3 of the season in Shepparton Australia was a great success. I knew I had a couple weeks off after this race so wanted to make sure I had a strong one and finished the season on a high. There were several top Aussie's I knew would be a threat and after hearing about the "Non Drafting - Drafting" a few weeks back my goal was to try and isolate the field and make everyone ride solo. Big congrats to Joe Lampe for an epic race and Leon Griffin for hanging in tough for 3. It is great to fin...

Mont Tremblant 70.3. I just finished the Ironman 70.3 up in Mont Tremblant, Quebec and had a great day. Kelly and I arrived up here on Thursday night, picked up a car from my bike sponsor Argon 18 – which like their bikes was the fastest airport transition ever… Thanks guys! About a week ago Ironman announced that this race would be the venue for the Ironman 70.3 World Champs next year once it moves from Vegas and let me tell you, it was worth seeing the course first hand. Coming here for an ITU World Ch...

There are actually two tropical storms over Mexico at the moment, Hurricane Ingrid on the Gulf Coast and Tropical Storm Manuel on the Pacific coast and while we are not in the worst of it, it is devastating to see what they have done to parts of the country. And fellow Kiwi Tom Davidson, who missed the first 4 aid stations and paid for it when the run started. Transition had a nice layer of water and oil and by the time I got off the carpeted section and hit the concrete to make a turn to our gear bags I...

Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Ironman NZ - 3rd. This weekend was the Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain New Zealand Ironman down in Taupo. It was a very tough day but I am pleased with my 3. Place finish behind Marko Albert and Cam Brown. It was also a great way to mark the end of my Pre Season base training and put to rest some monsters that have been hiding in my Ironman closet. Marko put in a small surge through the special needs section at the half way point and we soon noticed he was moving away from us. His lead wo...
