The days are flying by so fast, I want a way to journal it for my son (& myself). Thursday, September 6, 2012. Well, I started this post awhile ago and then Zach got sick and I got distracted. Anyway. We had our 3rd NICU picnic and Zach had a blast. Last year he lasted about two hours with many meltdowns occurring. This year, we were there 3 1/2 hours and Zach would have stayed longer. Zach and one of his primary nurses. Zach with Trevor and Nathan (& their mom). Soft kitty, warm kitty.".

Zach and I joined his dad for his families Thanksgiving in Monterey this year. It's the third Thanksgiving that we've made the drive up. Zach actually does really well with the long car ride (up at 5:00 and then 7 1/2 hours in the car), I pulled out my phone and the DVD player at his hardest times and it got us through. I am so glad that this one turned out. I try not to focus on Zach's preeminess too much now, but I don't want to ignore it. Zach being a preemie was such a HUGE part of my life. My only pregnancy, my only child. I think that this picture perfectly captures where we started and how far both of us have come. He is my heart. Tails from the Edge.

In my adventures as a single pregnant woman, the mother of a very early preemie and as a single parent to my son I have had a lot if ideas of how life "should" be. I don't know where he got it from, but I hope that he never stops. I love that I got two spontaneous "I love you Mommy"'s out of him this week. It was so nice.
