Zach Marlay: February 2010

http://www.zachmarlay.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 5, 2010. Criticisms of self-criticism part 1. 1) Formally, I think that the aperture and shutter speed and ISO are acceptable, the subject is in focus and there is no over-exposure or under-exposure. Also there appears to be little to no noise in the photo. Too improve the photo, i would change the white balance. There seems to be a slight tint in the background that could be easily changed with a different setting, like shade or cloudy. Thursday, February 4, 2010.

Zach Marlay: December 2009

http://www.zachmarlay.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 18, 2009. Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Friday, December 11, 2009. Thursday, December 10, 2009. Thursday, December 3, 2009. Response to Point, Shoot, Retouch, and Label. For the original article. A photographer creates the original photo, but a retoucher, like an editor, puts "the final touches" before it is posted in a magazine. I believe that because of this, the photographer is the artist of a photo, and that a retoucher is an editor, not an author. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

David Bradley: equivalence in the wild.

http://davidbradley2010.blogspot.com/2010/05/equivalence-in-wild.html

Monday, 3 May 2010. Equivalence in the wild. I feel that these capture the same emotion to within me. I like the feeling of outside with the mixture of light stops and dark spots. They both contain sky which to me gives the feeling of being free. I like these because they both show the inside of a building and both of the seem to have the room being framed by the sides of the lens. The lines of the floor also meet at the lower corners of the pictures. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, October 25, 2009. Photographer = William Wegman. Title= Green beret, 2005. SS = 800 most dogs do not like things on their head so he would need a fast shutter speed to capture this. Aperture = 7.1, The dog and leaf are in focus. ISO = 400 , the picture has good lighting. Photographer = Man ray. Title = Tears, 1930. SS = 800 , he is capturing the movement of the "tears". Aperture = 3.5 the eye and tears are the only thing in focus. ISO = 200 The photo is bright and highlighted. And the time is aro...

Eva Wixon: October 2009

http://evawixon.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Tuesday, October 27, 2009. 1 Francesca Woodman, House #4, Providence, Rhode Island, 1976. 2 SS: 2'.0, because the woman's movement is blurred, and the light is very obvious at the windows. 3 F: 16, because the whole picture seems to be in focus. 4 ISO: 400 because there does not appear to be any noise, and there seems to be no other reason for a higher ISO. I like the clouds, they're pretty.-. 1 Minor White, Barn and Clouds, 1955. 4: ISO:500, because the picture seems to be a bit "funky" in some places.

כתר לראשך Keter l'Roshecha | grad school, travels, Judaism, etc.

כתר לראשך Keter l'Roshecha. Grad school, travels, Judaism, etc. January 2, 2012. A quick thought on Liberal Judaism. This has been especially relevant in the Conservative Movement’s recent reappraisal of Homosexuality in Judaism, and in the not as recent reappraisal of Egalitarianism (equality between men and women). I think none of us would argue that those were the wrong decisions, but the Halachic arguments (from an Orthodox perspective) seem a bit forced. After a century of intense debate and reflect...

This time, it’s for you. December 20, 2013. You know the feeling. It doesn’t matter why the feeling comes about, it’s an enemy I have had to face hundreds of time: Give into the destructive lure of lust or uphold a legacy of purity? And the feeling is a tug. It’s a hard pull on the heart strings of your heart. What I am feeling is profound. You see in the moment, my heart is in the middle of an all out nuclear strike! Our job is to create and pass on a spiritual legacy. Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens ...
