Building a Variable Power Supply

I use this circuit all the time to control the flow of power to a motor from an Arduino or other microcontroller. I made a page for it so I have quick reference to it when I need it. A PWM signal on the input pin will serve to provide speed control of the motor if desired.

In 2012 my son Hayden decided he wanted to take a look at the odds of getting a royal flush in Texas Hold'em Poker. So we made this into his mathematics based Science Fair Project for the year. He goes to a magnet middle school specializing in science, engineering and math so when he won first place in the school and third in the entire city for this project we were very proud of him.
