My pieces are inspired by natural beauty and surface textures found in nature. I aim for simplicity and am inspired by irregular shapes. My jewellery is bespoke – in the same way that no two stones are the same, each of my pieces is unique. My Paua shell range uses shells tumbled naturally by the sea. To provoke memories of familiar places I choose to paint scenes that are ambiguous, hoping that they create a sense of ease within the viewer, enabling emotional connections to be made with the work. It is this capacity of images to be ambivalent, holding many potential aspects and meanings that has always fascinated me. With the re-emergence of the homemade, the local, sustainable and “of value” product, a pervading ethic tells us ‘reworking’ is also upon us. I decided to launch a range of furniture in 2009, designing and crafting in my workshop in North Cornwall. I predominantly use reclaimed materials and curiosities, all with different histories from sites of the southwest and normally destined for the gobbler and landfill. They are built to compliment both residential and commercial spaces.

One legitimately weird thing about Tumblr is that when you reblog a post, you have full editing power over the original caption. Sometimes that’s funny. Sometimes it’s not—but in any case it’s something that’s concerned a lot of you for a while now. We’re finally fixing it. Starting today, people will be able to reblog your posts with all of its captions intact, or with all of them removed, but they won’t be able to edit your words. Furrys and bronies are wierd. This is SO cool that I just had to share.

Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Saw the above couplet on the many banners that can be seen hanging around the school - Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST). Thought it is quite meaningful, and can be a motivational verse for those graduating. Recently have to say a lot of goodbye. A colleague who had worked for 5 years in Met services had just left to join the private sector. To me was really quite unexpected. Sighs of good times in the job market.
