Confessions of a Recovering Academic. October 5, 2010 in Beauty. Today I returned to my hairdresser here, which was largely unremarkable except in that it was. So unremarkable. All I did was get in my car, drive for 15 minutes, sit in the chair for a couple hours, chat with the hairdresser, read some trashy magazines, then drive to the grocery store and go home for lunch. Does anyone else find it slightly INSANE that we shop, wrap, decorate, bake, sweat, bleed and swear for weeks and weeks and weeks at FULL price just to have everything be 90% off the next day? I was at Chez. Target today (we needed plastic baggies and cat litter: how glamorous. All of their Christmas shwag. Is 50% off. The clearance racks are bursting with 30 - 75% off joy. Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Is there anything quite as satisfying as eating a meal full of food that you have grown yourself? Right now we have purple peacock bush beans, Kentucky Wonder pole beans, sugar snap peas, nantes. Nice zucchini, black simpson. Lettuce, zebra stripe and red roma. Tomatoes, nasturtiums, red bell peppers and a smattering of spinach rounding out the garden. I plan to get a few more starters in the next week or so to add to our future harvests. Farm share that we get from Live Earth Farm.
