This morning we headed to Asakusa so that xw could try to search for her favorite snack “black thunder” which was suddenly swept off shelves in a mad frenzy by Taiwanese tourists, or so we googled. Tokyo 26 Mar 2014. April 12, 2014. The last time I stepped into Tokyo territory was in 2009 (excluding my transit to/fro Hokkaido at Haneda airport in 2012). It’s been an awfully long five years, during which Japan went through and then recovered from its tsunami catastrophe. We took some time to settle down into our capsule dorm located on the 5th floor, all stairs, and headed out to Ikebukuro in search of Ichiran ramen. Ichiran Ramen at Ikebukuro, Tokyo. Today I decided to take a day trip to Changhua, after I was inspired by the eatery 鹿港小镇 and a travel article on this small town back home. The train ride to Changhua took more than an hour, if I recall correctly. Similar to Tainan, there were shuttle buses readily available for tourists. We switched several transport while in Hakone so that we could make full use of the pass, including cable car, rope way, trains, pirate cruise and bus etc. the pass is really worth it even for a one-day tour (just a note that the minute you exit from Shinjuku in day 1, the pass would be taken back by the ticket machine.). Tokyo 27 Apr 2014. April 12, 2014. We packed breakfast at our favorite konbini this morning and set out for meguro sky park. Unfortunately, it rained and our plans to picnic at the garden, located above a highway, were thwarted. Sakuras along meguro river hadn’t bloom yet either which was another disappointment. After visiting the park, we took trains to nishin-nippori to meet up with our friend at close to lunch time, before walking up to Sendagi for a flavor of its heritage (food) trail.

At the age of 3 , little kiddo likes to pretend that he is either “robot, spiderman or green lantern” – the after effects of watching too many action movies and cartoons. He also watches Kamen/Kazen Rider on local tv okto. A tad too much of fighting in my opinion.
