On motherhood, motherland, and poetry. Author Archives: Lina Alsharif. I'm a Palestinian from Gaza who's currently living in Qatar. I have poetical aspirations. I'm also doing my MA in Creative Writing/Poetry. 5 Post MA Thoughts. August 21, 2016. 1-You think you are not ready even when you ARE ready. 2-You think it’s a pile of mediocre nonsense that sounded me better in your head. 3-You can’t stand to look at it without shuddering. I cringe at the thought of reading any of my submitted work, as I am ...

“Free to write” | Reflections
https://livefromgaza.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/free-to-write
On motherhood, motherland, and poetry. 8220;Free to write”. February 24, 2011. The revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, and Libya against the tyrants have been overwhelming. As these uprisings are filling many across the Middle East with inspiration, I wrote this poem. Written with ink of blood. And chants of loving life. Ornamented with thrones of freedom. Roses spread on shrouds and cradles. Rhymed by bullets defied with screams :. It’s peaceful, peaceful, peaceful. Figures of hope, of love, of salvation.

On motherhood, motherland, and poetry. November 30, 2014. This a response to a poem. I wrote in 2011 when I had hope that this region could change to the better. Crucified by thrones of freedom. Rhymed by bullets, deafened with screams :. It’s hopeless, it’s futile, it’s a failure. Figures of hope, of love, of salvation. Beaten with the fall of new generation. Chains are tightening, the iron is rusting. Crack the tone with impossible redemption. The tirades on screens. And were chosen to be. Notify me of...

Dawn of the oppressed | Reflections
https://livefromgaza.wordpress.com/2014/08/09/dawn-of-the-oppressed
On motherhood, motherland, and poetry. Dawn of the oppressed. August 9, 2014. Dawn of Doom’s day,. The Sun rose from the east,. The bombs came from everywhere. Angels of death,. Prepared for this early rapture. Unleashed mayhem of fire, blood, and smoke. Masses on barefoot,. Masses march to the unknown. Masses torn, thrown, buried, burnt. Thuds of breath gave a sign of life,. Behind you there’s a new graveyard,. Before you there will be the next graveyard. The night of Doom’s day,. The Sun set in the west.
