Day 13 hiking the “rim”. July 14, 2015. We caught the trolley up to crater lake…wow is all I can say. Is so breath taking beautiful. Bill had to remind me that we had taken my now deceased mother to see crater lake probably 25 yrs ago…she had never seen it before and we made her and my sister diane come along with us…so glad we got to show them it. So…we took the rim trail…omg! Dinner was a bag of loaded mashed potatoes with bacon bits….not great but good when ur hungry. View all posts by zigie99.

Day 17…. Cresent lake. July 14, 2015. We know we had 20 miles to get to shelter cove…we were finally on the right trail but had made camp at the first level site we could find. We were told water was 10 miles up the trail but…for us that’s 3/4’s of a day walk and…we had maybe 2 liters left between the 2 of us. So…I wake up at 4:00 and know I should wake bill to start packing up but it’s hard to do so when you need head lamps to see what needs packed. Up goes the tent…bill had mountain house beef st...

Day 16 4th of july. July 14, 2015. Today is Saturday. .we hope to be at shelter cove in time for dinner Monday night but…that will require us to be hiking a few more 15 or 16 mile days. We can do it if my feet and his back hold up. Today feels like it could be only 80 out instead of 100 like all the other days so far. Our plan again…get up early and hit lots of miles before it gets hot! Weird cool looking trees with all the moss on them. A rock slide area u risk your life in crossing.

Day 14 Mt Thielson wilderness. July 14, 2015. So we rested in the shade for an hr or 2 cuz it’s now 1:00 and 92 in the shade. Then fully hydrated we started up Mt thielson…slowly.
