Still Looking For Answers: July, 2003. EDS POTS. and TCS. A turn for the worse. Still Looking For Answers. Answers in New York. Still Looking for Answers: July 2003. Currently, this is my basic list of symptoms (at least all of the major ones):. Feeling hot and having the chills/goosebumps. Feeling cold and sweating. Can't sit up for very long. Can't hold my head up more than 10 minutes without excruciating pain. Tightness and pain in neck and shoulders. Tightness in chest and shortness of breath.

Chiari is generally considered congenital, although certain things like trauma and spinal taps have been shown to cause an acquired form of Chiari. Chiari has come to be better known with the advent of the MRI, leading to more people being diagnosed. Headache (esp. if daily or at lower back of head). Painful tension in neck. Visual disturbances/loss of vision/spots in vision/double vision. Pressure/pain in the neck.

In other news, I've had another cardiac episode, so I'm looking forward to meeting with Dr. Grubb in April to see what he thinks about it. My heart rate and blood pressure problems persist, and I use the wheelchair almost all the time.

Then two titanium rods were put in along the back of my head. This helped to raise my skull up away from my spine. This straightened out my brainstem. The operation was quite a success.

But starting in junior high, I often had headaches and nausea, along with a general feeling of "being sick", or "not quite right". These were very vague and were always assumed to be psychological in nature. I mean, who's sick ALL the time? So I tried to ignore it for a very long time, but I gradually started to feel worse.
