Today is the first of march which is a month I'd feel apprehensive of since in the Netherlands it usually comes with a lot of rain and wind, but the bloom of the snowdrops and the emergence of the first patches of colorful crocus flowers more than makes up for this. Stephen's Rural Photography And Maybe Other Stuff. Sunday, March 1, 2009. Flowers of early march. Here's two pictures of flowers that I took today. Spring is late and the crocuses haven't fully opened yet. Note how sports car crisp the stripes on its leaves are. I'm not sure what the other flowers are exactly, only one patch of them grows in my whole garden but they look very nice in what is otherwise still a sleeping winter landscape.
