Northern Disclosure: May 2009
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Sunday, May 31, 2009. After Ashley and Gabe's wedding, Lea and I continued our whirlwind trip. We flew to Oakland. There we met my parents and had lunch. My parents were kind enough to loan us their car for the week. We first dropped off our stuff at Lea's friend's apartment in Oakland. Heather and Lea went to Boalt together. Heather is also pregnant and her kid is due about a month before ours. That night Lea and I saw The Flight of the Conchords. Friday we headed north to Sacra...

Northern Disclosure: March 2008
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Monday, March 31, 2008. Alaska celebrates Seward's Day on the last Monday in March. We celebrated being in Alaska and not speaking Russian by going on a backpacking trip on the Kenai Peninsula. Our house was full of visitors, so we traded in our three bedroom house for a one room (plus loft) cabin at Trout Lake along the Resurrection Pass trail. Pulk" is the term they use up here - I use the term "sledge" because that's what they called them on Shackleton's voyage. Our lunch stop...

Living in Anchorage, AK. Thursday, May 29, 2008. Bike Rides around Anchorage. James Ferguson (a fellow clerk) and I have signed up to do the Fireweed bike ride as a relay. We will cover the 200 miles from Sheep Mountain Lodge to Valdez in shifts. Our support car will ferry one rider ahead while the other tackles a stretch of road. The ride along the Glenn Highway and then down to Valdez should be amazing. Valley of the Moon to Kincaid Park -. Bird to Gird -. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Northern Disclosure: April 2008
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Friday, April 25, 2008. Spoke Too Soon (RE: Last Snow). So I think I jinxed the entire southcentral region of Alaska. I just wrote a post on our "last snow" of the year. Of course that lead to about 8 inches of snow (update: more like 16-22 inches) getting dumped on us today. It's beautiful outside. Our front yard was completely free of snow yesterday evening. Here's some pictures I just took today:. Links to this post. Monday, April 21, 2008. Skiing down was a bit hairy at first...

Northern Disclosure: September 2008
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Saturday, September 6, 2008. Day 4 - Valdez to McCarthy. My dad and I grabbed breakfast at the Totem Inn Restaurant and read the paper, which was a day old and full of news of Gov. Palin’s nomination by the GOP. We then walked over to the harbor and watched fishermen clean boats and salmon splash in the water below us. Our goal for the day was the (very) small town of McCarthy. The McCarthy Road ends at a pedestrian bridge. You can’t drive into McCarthy and Kennecott...Once di...

Northern Disclosure: This last weekend
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2009/07/this-last-weekend.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Tuesday, July 28, 2009. I didn't really do a whole lot this last weekend. I mean, I was busy: daddy bootcamp at Providence Hospital (very helpful), cooking a bunch of lasagna for friends who came over for dinner Saturday night, and riding 50 miles to the top of Hiland Drive with Carina. But not that much happened that would warrant national TV coverage. July 30, 2009 at 3:47 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Jefferey, the face cancer. View my complete profile.

Northern Disclosure: Polaroids
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2009/08/polaroids.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Thursday, August 13, 2009. Polaroid film is no longer being made. I never really used it that much, although I enjoyed using the format when friends had a camera. The immediacy was pretty much the best part. But the pictures themselves did have something to them that digital photos lack. (There's been a few recent articles about this; check this one out. If you are missing the format, www.rollip.com. Lea in Monterosso, Italy. Wedding in Moose Pass. The Bulkley Valley, in BC.

Northern Disclosure: June 2008
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Monday, June 30, 2008. This weekend Mary Katherine, Liz, Mike and I headed out for a hike in the Talkeetna Mountains north of Anchorage. We headed up the road to Hatcher Pass and turned off towards the Reed Lakes trail. The area has some of only decent rock for climbing in south central Alaska and many of the boulders looked like they would be a lot of fun. A face of granite that we began to switchback up next to even had a few bolts in it. We stopped for a snack and to let the d...

Northern Disclosure: June 2009
http://northern-disclosure.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Living in Anchorage, AK. Sunday, June 21, 2009. Lea and I spent this weekend with Ashley, Gabe, and Ezra camping out at Glacier Spit on Kachemak Bay. Ashley and Gabe flew in from Chicago with Ezra (10 months old). They were on their honeymoon after getting married in Santa Fe. (See prior post. Lea and I took Friday off and we all drove down to Homer. Update: You can read a Homer News story about Anne and Todd here. Apparently a few of the dates are a bit off.). Homer is on the north shore of Kachemak Bay...
