This morning we got the children up before dawn, ate an early breakfast and took a van with two other families to the U.S. Consulate. There were a few hundred people lined up outside waiting for travel and other visas. Fortunately, we did not have to wait in that line. China, here we come. Sunday, August 21, 2011. Life is quite a bit easier here in Guangzhou. Our somewhat aging hotel is in a picturesque spot beside the Pearl River. Barges share the river with swimmers who scramble to get out of the way. This is embarrassing. We managed to feed three other two year olds before her without causing an international incident.
