Christian Brandt: IOD day 5
http://brandt-christian.blogspot.com/2007/10/todays-general-session-was-panel.html
Thursday, October 18, 2007. Today’s general session was a panel discussion led by Chris Anderson Editor-in-Chief, Wired. The subject was “outside-in technology and innovation”. From open source to crowd sourcing, the main lessons of the web 2.0 era are that there is more talent, information and energy outside of the traditional organizational structures than with in them. Five “gurus” talked about how they’re harnessing these forces. What is Web 2.0 anyway? Are big companies domed? Final day in Las Vegas.

Christian Brandt: Final day in Las Vegas
http://brandt-christian.blogspot.com/2007/10/final-day-in-las-vegas.html
Saturday, October 20, 2007. Final day in Las Vegas. Right now I feel a bit homesick but full of energy to leverage from this week that has been as always intense with a lot of new contacts made, interesting sessions and a lot of business opportunities lies ahead. The first few days I was quite heavy jet lagged. I don’t know if it is me becoming older or because of a bad flight schedule. I put my money on the later. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Christian Brandt: IOD day 4
http://brandt-christian.blogspot.com/2007/10/iod-day-4.html
Wednesday, October 17, 2007. The host for this morning’s general session was Bob Picciano, Vice President of Worldwide Information Management Sales, IBM Software group. He talked about how we now are moving from Business Automation to Business Optimization. If you think that all concert pianists are all alike I can assure you that Mitchell Zeidwig. Optimized for data structures. ETL or EAI reusable. Need for matching keys over sources. In parallel there was an interesting session about how Information Li...

Christian Brandt: IOD day 3
http://brandt-christian.blogspot.com/2007/10/iod-day-3.html
Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Today’s keynote was Emelie Macabe, general director, IBM global public sector. The session should focus on the public sector but for some reason Michelin presented a case. But first Nick Lewin, a rather famous magician gave a performance. I find it rather disturbing to see a guy tearing a news paper apart and when he unfolds the peaces the news paper is again whole…. Did you know that Michelin makes a 12000 pound tire! The system was implemented in 9 months and now 6000 cases a...

Christian Brandt: IOD day 6
http://brandt-christian.blogspot.com/2007/10/iod-day-6.html
Friday, October 19, 2007. MDM MDI = Turnkey MDM was the topic and message from the first session today. A rhetorical question was asked, how often do you clean at home? Do you clean your house every day, every second day or? If you make this analogy with data cleansing you rapidly realize that this is a continuous and ongoing process. A number of signs of dysfunctional data indicate the urgent need for MDM such as no single view of data; intense manual reporting work; no ownership of data etc. Final day ...

Christian Brandt: IOD day 1
http://brandt-christian.blogspot.com/2007/10/arrived-in-las-vegas.html
Sunday, October 14, 2007. Since it is Sunday and the Conference is officially opening tomorrow I hope to make some shopping today. It is good to do the shopping before you enter the casinos. The hotel is something for David since you can enjoy the view over Las Vegas International Airport. Later this evening I will attend the “IBM Nordic Dinner”, taking place at Stratosphere. This will be a perfect time to meet other IBMers, partners and customers from the Nordics. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
