everything and nothing together: July 2011
http://everythingnothingtogether.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Everything and nothing together. Friday, July 29, 2011. There are some things I'm kind of guarded about. Personal feelings and emotions that I try so hard to keep out of the social media realm and public view.sometimes maybe too hard. So on our 4th wedding anniversary I'm letting my guard down. The thing is Aaron, I love you a thousand times over. I know I don't say it enough or always let it show,. But you are my best thing. Happy anniversary my love. I love you forever. Earl opened Mooch's gift. Indepe...

Centered on Christ: George Beverly Shea's Pulpit
http://centeredonchrist.blogspot.com/2013/04/george-beverly-sheas-pulpit.html
Wednesday, April 17, 2013. George Beverly Shea's Pulpit. For 10 years, I pastored The Village Church, in the Chicago suburb of Western Springs. It was the church where Billy Graham pastored long before. In 1944, George Beverly Shea was connected there too as the featured soloist of the radio program “Songs in the Night,” which was broadcast live from the church basement. Abandoned and misshapen, the pulpit lingered in a back room until it was carted off to destinations unknown, never to be seen again.

Uncle mark will teach him the piano, uncle jordan the drums, uncle scott the guitar and aaron an assortment of brass and woodwinds with a little help from uncle steve. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Some favorites and recommendations:. Larry Sabato's Crystal Ball. Less of a blog and more of a weekly commentary for us proud political junkies. As the title would sugges...

Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Are You a Delusional Pirate? In the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Two pirates, named Ragetti and Pintel, are in a longboat on the open sea. They have just escaped from jail. Ragetti appears to be "reading" a Bible. But it is clear he cannot be, because he is holding it upside-down. Ragetti claims to be taking care of his immortal soul. Pintel says, "You know you can't read.". Ragetti answers, "It's the Bible. You get credit for trying.". No matter how well you...

Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Is the Gospel Powerful Enough to Bring Contentment? Recently, in my study of 1 Timothy, I grappled with the teaching in chapter 6 about how Christian slaves should live. It challenged me. Why didn’t Paul come right out and denounce slavery? Why didn’t Jesus condemn it? Why the instruction on how to live as a slave? If overthrowing social structures is not the first order of business for the church, how does this apply to other issues we face? Because the Bible teaches that ho...

everything and nothing together: March 2011
http://everythingnothingtogether.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Everything and nothing together. Monday, March 21, 2011. We bought a house. Well we've almost bought a house anyway, just hanging out in a little place we like to call escrow. We started this process in the beginning of March when we realized it might actually be possible to have a lower mortgage payment than our current rent, I know that's some crazy rent. So some encouragement from Aaron's dad, a few phone calls and one tax return (to put towards a downpayment. Later we were on the hunt. A lot's happen...

Wednesday, May 2, 2012. The prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread," Proverbs 6:26. In other words, sexual sin is dehumanizing. How? To the sex industry: whether movies, magazines, chat lines, prostitutes, dancers, escorts, or dating sites, you are just a meal ticket. A way to put bread on the table. You are a source of revenue. The money you pay for the movie, the online membership, the magazine, the pole dancer, the prostitute, the webcam session, reduces you to a business transaction.

Wednesday, October 24, 2012. There Is No "Christian" Vote. I’m not afraid of prison. Let me explain. I’m actually terrified of prison, but I would never let the threat of it keep me from taking a stand for the gospel. I’m not afraid of the church losing tax exempt status, if it meant obeying God. I’m not afraid of ridicule. The fallacy of choosing the “lesser of two evils” can be shown if taken to an extreme. What if your vote was between the Third Reich and the Khmer Rouge? I encourage God’s peopl...
