Masculinizing the noun - at heart, a gentleman
http://matthew-matins.livejournal.com/7601.html
At · heart, · a · gentleman. While I previously drew a line in the sand against maculinizing nouns for trend articles here. Recent developments have caused me to draw a new line right HERE with "mantry". Or, one presumes, the "man pantry". (But alas! I am torn because the article features (manly, delicious) cured meats.). Mandals, or man sandals. Man-bags, or man bags. Murses, or man purses, or male nurse [added 12 March 07]. Manpris, or man capris. Man-dates, or man dates. Manpinions, or man opinions.

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Tuesday, December 14, 2010. The Advent Chain continues apace, except when it dawdles. Make pom-pom snowmen." The inspiration was this. But I did not have store-bought pom-poms in the house, nor did I feel like leaving the house to buy some. No problem, I thought! I'll just MAKE some pom-poms out of yarn! I know this can happen. I think I may have done it before. Did you know that making pom-poms out of yarn is actually kind of hard? Make paper snowflakes." Righteo! Mary Jessi...

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Friday, December 03, 2010. Last night, we went to the Athens Christmas Parade, which featured Star Wars Storm Troopers, Rollergirls, various small dogs up for adoption, cyclists, a tractor, karate kids, a local beauty queen, cub scouts, high school marching bands, and a very special live rap version "God Ye Rest Merry Gentleman." Among other things. Tonight, we took off two links of the Advent Chain to make up for lost time. Robert was SO EXCITED. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Wednesday, February 09, 2011. Went off on real, live circus jaunts from time to time. And I did help form a semi-short-lived, inexplicably popular circus that mostly played in downtown bars. I was a Trapeze Tart. Not at all something that will cause my son great embarrassment one day, I am sure. Here's another thing that might stand in the way of joining a circus: I have never liked clowns. Why should I? They are weird, Circus. Often scary. No offense. I write articles for ne...

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Monday, December 06, 2010. I have this thing I do where I like to put on a blindfold and do stuff on a trapeze. That's what I did Saturday night, downtown, as part of a fundraiser for Canopy. Photo by the oh-so-lovely Janet Frick. It was a wee reprise of a piece I performed in Canopy's last show, where it looked like this:. Photos by the talented Stephanie Crouch. On Sunday, we took down another link, which instructed us to "Make a candy cane mouse." Specifically, this one.

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Monday, December 20, 2010. Tommy and I took a lovely trip to visit my sister and her beautiful family in the mountains, where, among other things, we were accosted by some totally aggro ducks. Seriously, the crummiest ducks ever - just look at that one honking in the back like he owns the place - and one of 'em bit my sister on the leg. It was simultaneously hilarious and terrifying. If ducks terrify you. Polymer Christmas tree made by my mom ages ago. Do you see Fluffy t...

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Thursday, December 02, 2010. So, we're doing this thing. It's certainly not my original idea, but we've made a paper chain with 25 links, counting down to Christmas. An Adventy kind of thing, right? True to form, we forgot to start it on Dec. 1. I figure we can catch up later. If I can be very industrious, my plan is to daily (ha, ha! Post (ho, ho! And then Tommy decided that Mouse needed a stocking. Mouse is Tommy's friend. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). I write articles for ne...

Writer, trapeze artist, mom. Wednesday, December 08, 2010. We're plodding through this Advent Chain business a little slower than I expected. I mean, we're taking down a link every day, but sometimes it takes awhile to build up (or simply have) enthusiasm for the project. I don't mind. We finally got around to making a candy cane mouse. That said, he thoroughly enjoyed both watching me work and playing with the mice afterward. Will these actually be mailed? That's a very good question. I write articles f...
