Sunday, January 23, 2011. I claim that my hobby is scrapbooking, but for it to actually be a hobby would mean that I have to do it, and I don’t. I mean if you were to look in the office and see the stacks of paper, the bins of stickers,. The cup of different scissors you might just believe that I do some serious scrapping there, I even own my own paper cutter. But here’s the thing, even though I love of scrapbooking, I also love sleep. First project up…My Belly Book aka my pregnancy journal. I like to gl...

Tuesday, February 23, 2010. It's my favorite day of the year! Happy Birthday, Ken! Monday, February 8, 2010. On the morning of December 29. My doctor took a look at my blood pressure, my miserable face, my swollen hands and ankles and said I was done. I was done a long time ago, but whatever. Vaginal or cesarean, we were hours away from meeting this being that had been making me blissfully miserable for the past 38 weeks. Around 5 pm we make our way to the hospital game faces on, READY. At midnight, my b...

Tuesday, July 15, 2008. One of my students (thanks, Mike! Sent me a link to an editorial cartoon. That is the McCain equivalent of the New Yorker cover of Obama. Monday, July 14, 2008. According to Nico Pitney at the Huffington Post. Barry Blitt the creator of the satiric cartoon aimed to convey the extreme views out there of the Obamas:. The problem is interpretation. The Obama campaign. It created such a stir that it even got time on the News Hour with Jim Lehrer. Perhaps, a title would have helped?

Pomegranate Thoughts: August 2009
http://pomegranatethoughts.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 11, 2009. I've stopped blogging here. With Isabel, twins on the way, trying to achieve tenure, etc., there just aren't enough hours of the day to update this blog. I've been mulling whether to keep it up or take it down. For the time being, I'll keep it up. Maybe the time and spirit will appear once again. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Apparently, I'm an Aquarius. Well. There you go! View my complete profile. Rod Carveth's Battling Idiot America. Rob Engberg's Life in New Zealand.

Thursday, September 30, 2010. California vs. Louisiana. I’m beyond tired. And that’s the reason why it’s been 6 months since my last post. If it came down to updating my blog or sleep, sleep wins. If it came down to mindlessly facebook stalking or posting an update, stalking wins. Stalking and sleep aside, I break this 6 month hiatus to share some news and though most of you already know this, blogging is therapeutic for me…. We’re going home. Home like Louisiana, home. Collard greens and ham hock home.

Pomegranate Thoughts: September 2010
http://pomegranatethoughts.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 12, 2010. Today Jon and I had to put our last granny cat to rest, our dear Hailie. Much to our relief, a neighbor was able to come over and watch the girls, and we took Hailie on her last car ride. She hardly moved while we drove. When we got to the clinic and had her euthanized, she went very quickly. She seemed tired, ready. We, Jon and I, of course were not ready. It does not get easier, even though this is our third. When she finally came into our hands, and there were no other hand...

Pomegranate Thoughts: June 2015
http://pomegranatethoughts.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Our first family dog, the big beast, Indy, made his way to the Rainbow Bridge last Wednesday, June 24. We don't know how old he was, but I am certain he lived an excellent life with us. When Jon and I moved to Berne, we started watching The Dog Whisperer. So, on adoption day, Jon went to the adoption day, and according to him, spent most of his time with other dogs, and as they were beginning to pack up, told the gals there that he'd been sent to adopt Indy. When the girls were bo...
