Musings on Church and State. In memoriam …. June 17, 2013. My father worked for nearly half a century in the Mathematics department at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey; he retired in 1996. I was surprised to learn, earlier this year, that there is a Wikipedia article. On him; today I learned that the article exists also in French. May his memory be eternal. Energetic Procession

Energies of the Trinity Perry C. Robinson 2004-2013. Original at Lux Christi. Several weeks ago one of you Gentle readers sent me some questions, and at last I shall start addressing them. I have chosen a more simple one, though I must admit, that this is a relative term, as they were all actually good and weighty questions. When Jesus says that a good ‘tree’ produces good fruit and. A bad ‘tree’ produces bad fruit, is this ‘tree’ referring. To *nature* or *person*? Have we all become ‘good trees’. Now t...

The Midnight Disciple: Lord, Teach Me To Pray!
http://midnightdisciple.blogspot.com/2008/12/lord-teach-me-to-pray.html
Thursday, December 11, 2008. Lord, Teach Me To Pray! Labels: Snippets From the Journey. I wasn't alone in this feeling. My Christian friends would often bring this topic up in conversation. They would ask, "How do you do your devotional time? How do I have a fruitful time alone with You? At that point, I was embarrassed to stand out as "Mr. Super-spiritual". As the conversation ensued, however, it was evident others had struggled and simply gave up trying to create a meaningful time alone with God. Did I...

The Midnight Disciple: August 2011
http://midnightdisciple.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Tuesday, August 16, 2011. The Biggest Hang Up With Ancient Christianity. Almost without exception, when I tell my friends I converted to Orthodoxy, they ask me, "So, do you pray to Mary? If I say I do, then in their minds, I am not really a Biblical Christian. But, is that really true? First of all, do Christians die? But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have you not read what was spoken to you by God, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'? Jesus said to her, "...

The Midnight Disciple: Post Pascha Blues
http://midnightdisciple.blogspot.com/2011/06/post-pascha-blues.html
Saturday, June 4, 2011. What a touching observation. I had been noticing this Pascha season that I actually am so used to my regular routine for morning prayers that just the fact that you leave off the O Heavenly King prayer until after Pentecost is enough to just make me feel a little off-balance for 40 days. Yours is a better reflection; Id rather concentrate on what you *get* during Pascha than what you *lose* - however temporarily. July 6, 2011 at 3:15 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
