Halfway down the road, I'm looking both ways at once. Monday, November 21, 2005. Florida is a curious place. Not only do they have turtles called gophers here, they also have a prairie dog like creature they call a salamander. Go figure. My new friend Jerri has to write a book. She has enough tales of growing up in the wilds of central Florida to fill volumes. She told me that her mother was a real outdoorswoman (is that all one word? Mom shrieked, and you have to wonder, that's the point, isn't it?

I don't know why they have school today, since the kids watch videos, listen to their MP3 players, and talk for five periods.
