A blog of my pursuit to restore a Fastback found under the snow. Saturday, February 28, 2015. Rear frame rails and inner wheel wells. I've been a bit lazy with the blog lately due to many private reasons. In spring I was not lazy with project Snowback so here is a belated update of what was done in February. The cut-out revealed the badly rusted outer wheel house and the inner wheel house which was not that bad but was pitted in the area where it attaches to the trunk floor flange. My spare part supplier.

The right hand side front fender apron behind the battery tray was replaced. The new replacement panel is made in Taiwan ,. Front supported by the tube. I've done this a couple of times before but anyhow it was challenging to recall the correct order of disassembling the doors so this time I decided to to document the process for future. The main order in the disassemble is to work from front to rear. So that the vent window comes out first and the locking system comes out last. So here is how I did it. Unscrew the window crank limiters.

The shifter needed to be attached to the gearbox and have the shift shafts adjusted. A new set of Hurst Pit Pack with steel shifter bushings and spring clips was available, purchased and the shafts attached with new bushings. Shift shafts with new bushings and clips.
