The Build, Sim Space

From a simulator standpoint, I am running Flight Simulator X. From Microsoft. I have literally owned every version of their software. I am very anxious to see the newest, simply called Flight, and hope that I can upgrade to it in the future. I am also a huge fan of X-Plane. The choice of avionics software to run everything on is a tough. One I've spent nearly a year deciding on which avionics system to run on my flight deck. Although there are many choices I rounded my down to only two, Sim-Avionics.

The Build, MIP Switches & Rotary Selectors

Switches and Rotary Selectors. At this point, all IBL panels are wired as are all LED's on the MIP. Today I started wiring the switches, rotary selectors and the glare wings. This will be the most involved wiring to date. I am now using both bays on the SYS4X card, LED's and switch connectors. The wiring is also getting more complex from a management standpoint. I am glad that I was pretty religious about wire tieing from day one. I also color coded LED's and switches to keep things clear. The next group...

I am hopeful that when set up and configured I will be able to display 3840 x 1024 at 30 frames per second. This will envelope the pilot and add to the realism! I received the three Acer 27 inch monitors and I am very pleased with the resolution, detail and framerates. The cloud and ground detail is amazing and should work nicely with my sim space available. If I had more room I would have opted for the projector route.

I began unpacking all of the items in my MIP package. Both out of excitement but also to make sure that I received everything. Several items did not make the initial shipment. These included both EFIS units, the two FMC's and a plate to support the MCP. Once I Finished the installation of all of the panels, IBL (Integrated Back Lighting) panels, annunciators, switches and rotary's I began the task of wiring. And let me say, this is a task!

As I have already covered in the Software section, I have decided on Sim-Avionics for my primary flight deck suite. This is a really important decision as this software is essentially the heart of my sim. I spent considerable time deciding on this software. To run the system properly I have decided on 7 sub-systems to run each of the Sim Avionics packages. Intel Core i7 930. 8 Core, 2.8 GHz. ATI Radeon HD 4850. Dual Core, 3.2 GHz. Dual Core, 3.2 GHz.
