A Tendril of Thought: December 2010
http://tendrilofthought.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Thoughts of a young ex-pat teacher. My 50 Best Photographs. Dec 25, 2010. Of Christmas in Africa. It's simultaneously awesome and depressing to celebrate Christmas in a foreign (Muslim) country with no family, but two friends. It's really great that I get to spend my first Christmas away from home with two great friends, but it's not so great that I'm away from home. It makes me feel like a little kid. And remembering that, helps me to know that even though Christmas is very, very different from what I'm...

A Tendril of Thought: On Turning Twenty-Five
http://tendrilofthought.blogspot.com/2011/06/on-turning-twenty-five.html
Thoughts of a young ex-pat teacher. My 50 Best Photographs. Jun 4, 2011. My birthday this year wasn't phenomenal. It wasn't blow-my-socks-off crazy. It didn't involve any big exciting event or even anything really special. But I still enjoyed it a lot. I even got some really great gifts! A full set of Indian clothes from a student (! Great video:). It was almost overwhelming. I think, that when it comes time for me to say goodbye to my students, that I am going to struggle. Glad you had a great birthday!

It's hard to believe that this term is almost over. Tomorrow I give four exams to my students, of my nine total exams. Next week Wednesday is the last day of school for this term. As some of you know, I'm going to Senegal and the Gambia over Christmas break this year. And guess what? To lounging around on the beach. Nov 24, 2010. Nov 8, 2010. From choir i...

Thoughts of a young ex-pat teacher. My 50 Best Photographs. Mar 29, 2011. In this I am staggered. How can His heart not. Be shattered to countless slivers of broken emotion? How can He stand to see the unmitigated sorrow of just one. How can He bear to know the daily miseries of every. single. person on this earth? I see a glimpse of one person's heartache,. And it saddens me for an hour. And I am changed for the day. And I am no longer just thinking about if for. But for years afterward. Let it go,.
