a book chick

Tuesday, May 12, 2015. My take: I was quite surprised by the almost flippant tone of the opening of this novel. It seemed light, superficial almost. Fluffy? Then each of the main characters began to reveal a bit of her real story. And then the easy breezy tone contrasted with the traumatic events in these women's lives and helped to soften the blows. My source: Suggested by daughter Anne after I enjoyed What Alice Forgot. My verdict: good read; worth a read. Lee @ abookchick.com. Saturday, March 28, 2015.

a book chick: "Orange is the New Black"

http://www.abookchick.com/2015/03/orange-is-new-black.html

Friday, March 6, 2015. Orange is the New Black". My take: Whilst visiting Daughter and her Bebe back when he was a wee thing, we decided to try the first episode of "Orange is the New Black" on Netflix. Hmmm. Quite shocking to sit and watch that with your kid, no matter how old she is. I didn't look for another episode, even though I'd heard such a great interview with the author. Fast forward a year and there is a copy on BFF's bookshelf. What have I got to lose if it's free? Lee @ abookchick.com.

a book chick: "What Alice Forgot"

http://www.abookchick.com/2015/03/what-alice-forgot.html

Tuesday, March 3, 2015. My take: When Alice, a 39 year old mother of three, falls off her spin bike and knocks her head she forgets the past ten years. She finds her relationships falling apart and that she's dating a new man. BFF and I had a good discussion on whether or not the premise that life changes a lot in ten years is plausible. And what kind of events or people could change us. My source: suggested by daughter Anne. My verdict: good read - especially a vacation or beach read.

the kroozing kroezes: Closet Crafter

http://kroozingkroezes.blogspot.com/2013/03/closet-crafter.html

Thursday, March 14, 2013. Tubs heated by volcano. Adam however, has inherited my crafting fever. As we walk through the rain forest in Dominica, he continually picks up treasures. Finally our tour guide grumpily asked me “what does he plan to do with those? 8221; I replied “Make a hat, a weapon, glue googly eyes on it, but most likely forget it in the back of your van.” As he trudged off I think he mentioned something about ants under his breath. Seay What?: December 2013

http://mommyseay.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Motherhood. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Christopher was very disturbed that we did not have any Christmas gifts for our dogs, particularly Lexi. (I was not at all concerned about this issue.) At any rate, he left Sophie's needs to me, but decided to take Lexi's gift needs into his own hands. He made her a peanut butter doggie treat Christmas cake, and she was delighted with his thoughtfulness. Saturday, December 28, 2013. Friday, December 27, 2013. My babies. my d...

Sunday, March 31, 2013. Port Louis Marina St. George's Grenada. We were blessed this morning by the congregation of Our Lady Queen of Peace of Belmont St. George. They were very welcoming and even gave the boys an Easter bag. For all visitors they share a bookmark with a "Traveler's Prayer" on it. Since we know many of you are traveling for spring break, we thought we would share it with you. We thought this seemed particularly fitting. Saturday, March 30, 2013. http://mommyseay.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Motherhood. Monday, October 6, 2014. While I'm reading our homeschool literature, Christopher builds "creations" with our math blocks. He builds something new every day, and - in case you're wondering - he still listens to the story being read and can tell you everything about the material after I'm done reading. He's smart like that. The Old Testament Tabernacle. The University of Tennessee football field. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

http://mommyseay.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Motherhood. Friday, November 14, 2014. Christopher has discovered another useful role for his toy miner helmet - a reading light to use in bed at night. I am thrilled to have him use his miner helmet in this way, as it keeps him reading and reading each night at bedtime. Clever. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Seay What?: In the Doghouse

http://mommyseay.blogspot.com/2014/07/in-doghouse.html

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Motherhood. Sunday, July 6, 2014. Not happy with Miss Lexi! After peacefully living here for two years, last week she suddenly decided to become impatient with not being let back in the house quickly enough after going outside to use the bathroom. I heard some loud scraping noises, and by the time I got to the kitchen, this is what I found. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Subscribe to Seay What? PW FULL RSS FEED.

http://mommyseay.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Motherhood. Thursday, October 31, 2013. My little Christopher has such a generous spirit. He always, always shares his candy. Mommy, I left all my Hershey's Kisses on your nightstand, so you can have one every morning when you wake up.". Wednesday, October 23, 2013. I congratulated him and showed him the tooth. He then matter-of-factly informed me, "If I were to get anything under my pillow, army duct tape would be my main priority.". Tuesday, October 1, 2013.

Monday, November 17, 2014. Or is this enterprise of creating a sustained narrative in a little child's voice really asking too much of a reader's suspension of disbelief? Is it manipulative somehow? Saturday, August 23, 2014. Next pick: "Down the Rabbit Hole". This is a short Mexican novel lauded for the realism of its 7-year-old narrator. Thought it would be an interesting read after our discussion about the Young Adult perspective. Friday, August 01, 2014. There's always the phone'. What did you think?
