An Epic Workout | A Bookish Charm
https://abookishcharm.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/an-epic-workout
Literary Living with Yours Truly. July 26, 2015. In preparation for my first semester as a student in my college’s honors institute and finding that although it is epic (hahahaha…that was awful. Sorry.) it can be a bit tedious. How does this relate to exercise? Well the characters in this book do tend to be the beefy, shield-bearing warrior type and even the women are pretty swift on their feet, but that isn’t what I’m talking about. To cope with the restlessness I feel when reading. 9 Every time the noi...

Literary Living with Yours Truly. August 15, 2015. Standing at the checkout at the grocery store, I found myself incredibly bored having forgotten both my book and my phone. Most people in such a predicament would probably do one of two things: 1) make small-talk with fellow shoppers or 2) flip idly through the magazines on the racks. Similar to Mr. Darcy, I am unskilled at small-talk and what was I to say? Was holding up (watching her crazy drama is anthropology, okay? So I thought it might be fun (at l...

Literary Living with Yours Truly. August 28, 2016. Well-read and Caffeinated: 10 Ideal Coffee/Tea and Book Pairings. Today’s Special: An iced Nutella latte with my blog and a side of Plato’s. It is a truth universally acknowledged that all readers in possession of a good book are in want of a delicious beverage to sip. But why settle for just any latte? Anne of Green Gables. Raspberry cordial didn’t work out so well…we will stick with tea. Gone with the Wind. Dark Roast with Hints of Cocoa. Besides, with...

the Berrett Bunch: October 2014
http://berrett-bunch.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2014. I've mentioned it before, but the sucky thing about blogging six months after an event is that you really remember nothing. Thank goodness I like to take pictures, so that helps. I can look back at the pictures I have fairly faithfully organized, and do my best to remember what happened. We decorated pumpkins. The Anderson's invited us over. They are awesome like that. Saturday, October 25, 2014. From the pictures it looks like he had a good time. They hiked a whole bunch,.
the Berrett Bunch: June 2014

Monday, June 30, 2014. While we were in Munich, we took a side trip to Salzburg, Austria. It was cold and rainy, but still very beautiful. We wished we could have spent more time here. That's the hard part about vacations - the choices. More time in one place, means less time in another. And sadly I feel Austria got the short end of the stick. I wanted to see the famous gazebo. The very same gazebo used in the movie. But we did find a fantastic park that the kids still talk about. And giant swings which ...

Saturday, May 31, 2014. It's great to be eight. Christopher turned 8 at the end of May. He was so excited for his birthday. He's so funny with his expectations of exactly how things will go. He wanted a white cake with white frosting (but he changed it to a 'Minecraft' cake instead of a 'Frozen' one). And white ice-cream. And root beer. And he picked the color scheme for the day. His aunt Corrine would be proud. (seriously, I do nothing to encourage any devotion to BYU). And then my baby was 8. Meanwhile...

Monday, March 31, 2014. I really love going on fieldtrips with my kids. It's so fun to spend (sorta) one-on-one time with them in different settings. Anyway, I got picked to chaperone.* And I'm kindof thinking that when it comes to Christopher I'll have an edge over other parents when it comes to being picked to chaperone. All other things being equal, Christopher is. And I'm guessing that. Parents (you know, parents of. My kid is awesome. So I followed Christopher and Faith and Maya around all day.
the Berrett Bunch: September 2014

Tuesday, September 23, 2014. You know, there comes a point in parenting when you have to ask yourself at what point should you give in? And what point do you realize that you are just punishing yourself? That your "principles" might not be worth it any longer, and you should just throw in the towel. I hit that point. And Nick got his drivers license. And I am wishing I would have given in sooner. But the Eagle/YW in E Award is still a deal breaker). Saturday, September 13, 2014. It's a family affair.
the Berrett Bunch: December - family
http://berrett-bunch.blogspot.com/2014/12/december-family.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2014. We were blessed to have my brother and his family visit us all the way from Wisconsin. My kids have a grand total of 5 cousins, so it's a big deal when we get to see some of them. We only got to spend a couple days with them, but they were good days. These pictures are all courtesy of my dad, because clearly I had lost the ability to take a decent picture, (compare this one with the one I took of Maddie at the same time, same place in the previous post). Writers’ Confe...

I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. – John 12:46. Who, what, and why? April 3, 2015. Beyond Unworthy… I am Barabbas. The Gospels document the account of Good Friday. Historians and archaeologists overwhelmingly affirm it. But the Crucifixion is not just a story of long ago; it is the story of my heart… and yours. Luke 23 records the scene:. 8220;(Pilate) said to them,. 8216;” (23:13-16). 8220;they all cried out together,. But they were urgent, d...

the Berrett Bunch: November 2014
http://berrett-bunch.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 29, 2014. My good friend Vicki and struck a deal to take each other's family pictures this year. Unfortunately I have yet to live up to my end of the bargain. We had scheduling issues and then things just got away from us. But she did a fantastic job and we couldn't be more pleased. Our fearless photographer taking a much needed break. Thursday, November 27, 2014. I was sitting at my computer trying to remember anything at all, (4 1/2 months later) and I confess I was having a hard time.

Thursday, April 24, 2014. Memories of my grandma. This is the talk I gave at my grandma's funeral two months ago. I added the pictures just for fun today. Hi, I'm Kirsten Berrett, the oldest child of Sharon and the second oldest of all the grand kids. I was asked to share a memory or two with you about my grandma, or as we called her, Grammy, but I have had a pretty difficult time writing this. Sometimes I would try and sneak downstairs to explore the rooms full of hidden treasures down there. All th...

A Bookish Baker - a lifestyle blog about books, baking and being inspired by the outdoors
A healthy goal for 2017. So that’s it. As I write this there are only a few hours left of 2016. Already writing the date, 2016, feels dated, old, so last year. My over-riding goal is to concentrate on my health. Yes, eating healthier, moving more, but also making sure my life is balanced. Because, guess what, if you are sitting at your desk for hours and days at a time, no matter how much you love the work, you’re going to burn out. This will hurt you mentally and physically. An honest review of my year.

Saturday, November 8, 2014. By Kimberly Willis Holt. This book is definitely one of my favs now! It was such an amazing novel! Even through her struggles, Tiger shows us that there is beauty in everything, you just have to look hard enough. :) I know this review isn't very long, but that just means that I loved it so much that I didn't have to even criticize it. ;). Oh myThis book was just.soooo good! I definitely recommend it! Saturday, September 20, 2014. I loved this book! I loved the characters and h...

Saturday, October 8, 2016. Dual Review: SEMPRE SEMPRE:REDEMPTION. Confession: it took me a while to figure out what to call this post. I didnt think I should call it a series review since there are other books/novellas in the series (like Made—. Corrados story [which I la-la-la-loved dearly]). Most of my reviews are quite short too, so calling these mini reviews didnt seem right either hah. So, Im taking a page out of Siiris genius book and doing a dual review! Labels: 4.5 stars. Book one of series.

Sunday, March 8, 2015. Review: City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments #2) by Cassandra Clare. Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? Also a Shadowhu...
