Adam and Robin's Asia-Pacific Adventure. Wednesday, March 25, 2009. Hanoi . and the end. A typical intersection in Hanoi's Old Quarter (above). A relatively quiet sidewalk in the Old Quarter (below). The lack of space on the streets of Hanoi is also felt in shops, restaurants and even hotels. Many Asian cultures have a different sense of privacy and space than Canadians, and northern Vietnamese people take this to an extreme; there seems to absolutely no concept of personal space. Eat Trek Climb: November 2008

http://www.adamandrobin.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

Adam and Robin's Asia-Pacific Adventure. Sunday, November 30, 2008. Pictures from the Annapurna Circuit. I'm trying to post just a few pictures from our trek around the Annapurna Circuit. I'm having a terrible time loading them, so I apologize for the size of the thumbnails. I've learned that if you click on the thumbnail image, a full-size (very large) version of the photo will open. Enjoy! There, hopefully those whet your appetites for now. Cheers! The Annapurna Circuit, Nepal. To start our trekking ex...

Eat Trek Climb: October 2008

http://www.adamandrobin.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Adam and Robin's Asia-Pacific Adventure. Monday, October 20, 2008. Word up from Queenstown! As before, I will forewarn that this is A CLIMBING POST! As Robin mentionned in the previous post, we have been in the Queenstown area for about a week and a half doing various things. Happily, this area is a route climbing meca! Our local guides sent me up one classic route after another and I was loving the rock! Our last route of the day was a slopey face climb called The Vision (24). Aaron led it and I sec...

Eat Trek Climb: Goooooooooooood morning Vietnam!!!!

http://www.adamandrobin.blogspot.com/2009/03/goooooooooooood-morning-vietnam.html

Adam and Robin's Asia-Pacific Adventure. Monday, March 9, 2009. We are in Saigon (aka Ho Chi Minh City) at the moment, and it is definitely one of my favourite major cities! Saigon is also home to some of the best coffee we've ever had. The Vietnamese definitely have my vote for the best coffee of the trip, and we had some great brews in Laos. We've even tried the "creme de la creme" of their coffee, the Legende: a coffee bean that has been eaten by a mountain weasel, then pooped out!

Eat Trek Climb: Angkor

http://www.adamandrobin.blogspot.com/2009/03/angkor.html

Adam and Robin's Asia-Pacific Adventure. Sunday, March 1, 2009. I had a great time touring around Angkor, and I think Adam, who unlike most people, had few expectations for Angkor, was pleasantly surprised at how much he enjoyed it as well. It's well worth clicking on to see a much more majestic Angkor Wat. Above, Adam dutifully posing for just a few photos while the tourist hordes are temporarily abated. Below, me, on a very rare occasion of being in front of the camera. And below, Adam doing the touris...

Eat Trek Climb: Climbing on Cat Ba Island (Ha Long Bay)

http://www.adamandrobin.blogspot.com/2009/03/climbing-on-cat-ba-island-ha-long-bay.html

Adam and Robin's Asia-Pacific Adventure. Monday, March 23, 2009. Climbing on Cat Ba Island (Ha Long Bay). Since the video, Ha Long Bay (and Cat Ba Island) have become a destination for climbers looking to try out DWS. The only thing necessary, obviously, is deep water. Most of the established routes tend to finish anywhere between 15-20 metres in height and the only way to get off the wall is to jump. Therefore, the tide must be quite high in order to avoid smacking the ground under the water. There's a ...

Waiting for Bob: New Traditions

http://waitingforbob.blogspot.com/2010/12/new-traditions.html

Monday, December 20, 2010. I decided to start a new tradition this year, based on something I read on my blogging friend Jen aka Brazenlilly's blog. Here's our advent calendar hanging on the wall in the living room and kitchen area. Cute, huh? Now it looks very pretty, but filling all those little pockets with daily activities is actually a lot of work and planning. This year is definitely a learning experience and I think next year it'll be easier! That went down very well! We've definitely had some mis...

Waiting for Bob: For Your Consideration

http://waitingforbob.blogspot.com/2011/01/for-your-consideration.html

Friday, January 14, 2011. Readers, I need your help. I took a long, hard look at Waiting For Bob the other day and realised it looks a little dated. I think its time I move forward a little and update the design. I toyed with a few different looks last night, but have yet to come up with the winning formula. But here's the thing. As I sat trying to figure out how I wanted to present the blog, I wondered if the title doesn't fit anymore. Waiting For Bob. I mean, I'm not waiting anymore, am I? This place i...

Waiting for Bob: The F***ing Fours

http://waitingforbob.blogspot.com/2011/01/fing-fours.html

Wednesday, January 12, 2011. The F* *ing Fours. The boys are back at school after a wonderful Christmas and New Year spent with family. It was lovely to be away at the cottage for the holidays again this year, but its equally lovely to be back at home and have Owen and William in school during the week. Is that harsh? Do I sound like a mean mummy? I don't mean to be, its just the reality of living with two boys going through the F* *ing Fours at the same time. You don't know about the F* *ing Fours?

Waiting for Bob: Intrepid Explorer

http://waitingforbob.blogspot.com/2010/12/intrepid-explorer.html

Thursday, December 23, 2010. Elly has become quite the adventurer lately. She's crawling full speed ahead and desperate to cruise around the couches, if only her legs would stop wobbling long enough to hold her up. For now she'll settle for kneeling and banging on things. She yells down to the boys in the basement all the time, no doubt saying "Come play. How to keep a nine month old busy? Let her have at it with the winter hats and mitts basket! Ooooh, this looks cosy! Pretty pleased with herself! C is ...

Waiting for Bob: The Little Things

http://waitingforbob.blogspot.com/2010/12/little-things.html

Thursday, December 30, 2010. Slowly but surely, they're learning how to write their letters. Owen recently asked me how I spelled my name. I wrote it out for him and a few minutes later he proudly brought me his version. Its the little things that make parenting awesome. That is just the coolest thing! Very good job I say! But the truth catches up with us eventually. Holly, 19, mediocre clarinet player.
