One year later…. July 10, 2015. July 10, 2015. So here we are, one year since we became a family of four. To say I was unprepared for this journey is the understatement of a lifetime. I had a wonderful image of the parent I was going to be. It mainly involved lots of play, exciting trips, healthy home cooked meals and lots of love. I’ll be honest, the kind of parent I am currently is one of survival. We eat together. We play together. And we have made huge progress as a family and as individuals. I’...

Adopting Shana - Bringing Our Daughter Home
Date: 2012.10.19 Category: Uncategorized. Our Consulate appointment is on Tuesday, so for Monday we spent the day relaxing. We pursued our favorite habit – waiting. It was actually a nice and restful day, and the children spent time playing with each other and feeding the fish in the hotel garden. In the evening, we had some great Irish food at a local restaurant. Exactly what you’d expect in China – an Irish restaurant. Date: 2012.10.19 Category: Uncategorized. One unwelcome surprise was that she needed...

Adopting Siblings – The adventures of the March family
The adventures of the March family. Flashbacks in A and E. May 19, 2016. May 23, 2016. Ok so it’s actually the minor injuries unit at our local community hospital but it was certainly an adventure for us. One a drowsy looking ruffian, handcuffed and flanked by two burly policeman and another child, older than mine, accompanied by a chatty over familiar mo...

Adopting Sister
Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Just wanted to comment a bit on Jill's talking. She's gone from saying one word, to two word phrases, to a few three word phrases over the past few months. Then, about two weeks ago she must have noticed that when we talk we use some smaller words in with our important words. So, at Jake's soccer game she said, "car? And I ignored her because the game had just started and we had a long time to go before getting back in the car, but then she said, "do.you.car? Turns out my mom ...
