Adopting Sister

Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Just wanted to comment a bit on Jill's talking. She's gone from saying one word, to two word phrases, to a few three word phrases over the past few months. Then, about two weeks ago she must have noticed that when we talk we use some smaller words in with our important words. So, at Jake's soccer game she said, "car? And I ignored her because the game had just started and we had a long time to go before getting back in the car, but then she said, "do.you.car? Turns out my mom ...

Adopting Sister: For Anyone Who Hasn't Given Up on Checking This Blog...

http://adoptingsister.blogspot.com/2008/10/for-anyone-who-hasnt-given-up-on.html

Wednesday, October 22, 2008. For Anyone Who Hasn't Given Up on Checking This Blog. Sorry it has been so long! Just as we all got settled in, school started and I was back to planning lessons, grading papers, attending school events as well as all the extracurricular activities the boys are in and helping them with their own homework and tests-I just haven't sat down to type! Jill is doing great! Afterwards she kept pointing to it and asking, "Jill jump? So we let her back in it three more times! She had ...

Adopting Sister: Family Photos!

http://adoptingsister.blogspot.com/2008/08/family-photos.html

Tuesday, August 19, 2008. We went to a great place called Portrait Innovations to have family photos taken last Friday. All together we had 88 pictures snapped! We ordered quite a few and were given a CD of all 88 shots. I asked if it was legal to post them on the blog and they said yes! So here's a sampling of how they turned out! Posted by Wade and Amy Williams. The pictures turned out great! August 19, 2008 at 8:42 PM. Your family is just beautiful! Thanks so much for sharing your pictures. Which is y...

Adopting Sister: July 2008

http://adoptingsister.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Tuesday, July 29, 2008. Ours for One Whole Month! Sunday was one month from the day we picked Jill up! Today was a crazy day! She hated the shots and bloodwork. In fact she started screaming when the nurse put alcohol on her arm! I don't know if she just didn't like the alcohol's feel or smell or if they do this before giving shots in Russia and she remembered it. She was so worn out afterwards that even though she had a package of 3 graham crackers in the car, she fell asleep after eating only two!

Adopting Sister: June 2008

http://adoptingsister.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 30, 2008. It really doesn't seem like it's been four days! We've made a lot of progress in four days. For one, she doesn't suck her thumb all day anymore. Even when she's mad at us (like when we want her to use the toilet for example) she starts moving her thumb to her mouth and then-usually-stops on her own and slams her hand down on the ground. She really does seem to want to please us. Usually it only stays closed for about 1-2 seconds, but once she kept it closed for 5 seconds! Today we ...

Adopting Sister: Lots and Lots and Lots and Lots of Photos

http://adoptingsister.blogspot.com/2008/08/lots-and-lots-and-lots-and-lots-of.html

Monday, August 11, 2008. Lots and Lots and Lots and Lots of Photos. Wearing her cool sunglasses holding her cell phone at Ty's baseball game. Jill played her very first 'board game', Cootie, with Ty, Jake, and Mommy, and SHE WON! The winner gets hugs and kisses! Jake and Ty both love to spin her around until she's dizzy. She falls down, gets back up and wants to do it again, and again, and again, and again! All of her Band-aids from her shots and blood work. At least they matched her dress! She is a doll!

Journey To My Little Russian Princess. Monday, March 9, 2009. We made it safely home late night on March 3rd, and as you can imagine, have been busy ever since trying to adjust to life at home and a new routine. Thank you to all of you for your support and prayers as we traveled back to Michigan from Russia. Once in Atlanta we had to go through passport control, then immigration, and finally customs where we had to get our luggage and recheck it in for our final flight to Detroit. All went smoothly&#...

Journey To My Little Russian Princess. Saturday, February 28, 2009. Friday afternoon and today saturday, have been spent at the hotel. It is not great weather to take Tia out as it is snowy and wet. We did venture over to the McDonalds next door for lunch yesterday.that was an experience! No fizzys for this girl. Journey To My Little Russian Princess. Thursday, October 9, 2008. Almost two weeks home from trip one. Aside from recovering from Jet Lag, which seemed to last for a week, and running around with paperwork, I returned to work and had a wonderful baby shower thrown by my church. The folks at Grace United Methodist Church are so loving and giving. I was overwhelmed by their love and generosity this past Sunday. And now to the pics of Krasnoyarsk:. This is the Hotel Sibier where I stayed. Bye for now,.

Adopting Shana - Bringing Our Daughter Home

Date: 2012.10.19 Category: Uncategorized. Our Consulate appointment is on Tuesday, so for Monday we spent the day relaxing. We pursued our favorite habit – waiting. It was actually a nice and restful day, and the children spent time playing with each other and feeding the fish in the hotel garden. In the evening, we had some great Irish food at a local restaurant. Exactly what you’d expect in China – an Irish restaurant. Date: 2012.10.19 Category: Uncategorized. One unwelcome surprise was that she needed...

Wednesday, December 25, 2013. From our little waiting family to yo, a blessed birth of Christ day! Wednesday, October 23, 2013. For the past two months the waiting list number has not moved. The first month I was an icky puddle of emotional mush on the floor. Then after the Master chiseled my heart a little I have come to a place of peace. Waiting on His timing. Celebrating the life I have now. Pulling my family and friends closer to me as I lean on them for support. So what have I been up to? That anger...
