Saturday, 28 December 2013. A look back at 2013. This was a very busy and enjoyable year for us. We spent a month in Uganda during which time we attended our Ugandan daughter, Doreen's, graduation from Makerere University with a degree in business. Her graduation party was held at the 5 star Serena Hotel in Kampala. She deserved it! We also visited many of the dear friends we made while we lived in Uganda. Uganda photo album is here. Doreen and her 'original' mum. Photo album of France is here. Giant's C...

Saturday, 20 December 2014. It's very strange to see christmas decorations here - everywhere! Christmas songs (non-religious) are playing on the streets, in stores, etc. This is a Buddhist country so there are few christians. I thought at first it was for the tourists and expats here, but now I think the Thais just like to celebrate anything - non-religious xmas of course. The stores are packed with christmas gifts and decorations. We love the food here! A couple of tofu dishes at our favourite restaurant.

Thursday, 25 June 2015. Bike ride to Skipness Castle. Lots more long bike rides and most are very hilly but this is not an issue with the help of the electric battery on the bikes. Climbing up hills is still work, but nothing like it would be on a regular bike. Tuesday we rode to Skipness Castle which is in the Kintyre Peninsula across from the Isle of Arran (a future bike trip). The castle has parts of it that are early 13th century, other parts are 16th and 18th centuries. Lots more photos of bike rides.

Friday, 6 February 2015. Tips for visitors to Koh Samui. We loved Samui so much we are returning next winter. We stayed in the southeastern area of Samui so my tips are geared more to that area. Since we rented a house we didn't dine out for every meal but did eat dinner out every night, and most lunches. Breakfast was at home. La Fabrique - Lamai and Chaweng. This restaurant was walking distance from our house and we ate here at least twice a week. This is my Tripadvisor review. Lai Thai Taling Ngam.
