An I and two E's. Saturday, 14 January 2012. Cheese plate at L'Espalier. Today I was treated to afternoon tea at L'Espalier. By my friend Bridget. It was such a fun experience - the ambiance was nice, the company was of course superb (Bridget, her mother, and two other friends), the tea service was great and we talked with the tea sommelier about each pot we ordered. My favorite part, however, was the excellent cheese plate I ordered. Humble Pie, Woodcock Farm, Weston, Vermont. Crottina, Blue Ledge Farm.

I wanted to start a feature on my blog called "minor accomplishments," because I don't have major accomplishments very often, and minor accomplishments still make me feel happy. One recent minor accomplishment was buying a jacket I had been pining over for months on "secret sale" (yes, that's a real thing), and then alerting the internet. To the fact that it was on sale. Haha love the idea of a secret sale - it definitely pays to be friends with shop assistants!

An I and two E's. Monday, 27 September 2010. Some friends and I tried out the pub trivia at Atwood's Tavern. In Inman Square. The theme for the night was cheese. Needless to say, we did pretty well [2nd place! Cheese in other languages - I knew French, Italian, and Spanish, but forgot German, and didn't know Portuguese or Greek [it's not 'feta,' which is what we guessed]. The country of origin of various cheeses including Havarti, Cheddar, Sakura, and Humboldt Fog [which is American! I didn't know that].

Adding extra letters every now and then. Friday, 23 November 2007. Yesterday (Thanksgiving for you Americans), Edinburgh turned on its Christmas lights. Downtown, next to the train station, a Winter Wonderland is set up. There is an outdoor ice rink, ferris wheel, carousel, and German market (with real Germans! It was such a crisp (ie freezing), clear night and the lights were beautiful. A paperback trilogy, or a Scottish keepsake, I enjoyed them all. Sunday, 18 November 2007. Mmm, baked goods. Drool.
