Pieced in China: Something Unexpected - Final
http://piecedinchina.blogspot.com/2013/07/something-unexpected-final.html
Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Something Unexpected - Final. In earlier times and not long ago, the infant mortality rate in China was very, very high. Children were referred to as “baby” or “little one” and not even given a name until they had survived 100 days. So, perhaps that is why bai jia bei, or hundred families’ quilts, were important and continue to be made. Their purpose was to keep the baby safe from evil. St Louis Art Museum 112: 1989. In search of meaning. What were her questions? She may have wonde...

You would think, by looking at this divine invention, it would take an expert to create, right? Just those working behind the scenes of Broadway theaters would have the inside knowledge, surely. But in fact, you would be wrong! You don't need an ounce of sewing skills for this. You could even make a tulle co...

crow roosters crow: hickory nut sail boat
http://crowroosterscrow.blogspot.com/2010/06/hickory-nut-sail-boat.html
Hickory nut sail boat. The chipmunks and squirrels have been very busy around our home and they have been leaving behind the most lovely broken nut shells, perfect for making these little sail boats. They are simple and fun to make and really do float so nicely along the cool water. One half of a nut. A pair of scissors. A candle and a match. 1 First, cut the paper in the shape of a sail (a little triangle). And there you have it! June 14, 2010 at 3:17 PM. June 14, 2010 at 7:35 PM. Cant wait to try it!

An Unexpected Valentine: Occupy Wall Street
http://anunexpectedvalentine.blogspot.com/2011/10/occupy-wall-street.html
Observations, musings and adventures of a new New Yorker who has fallen for the citys charms. Friday, October 21, 2011. My cousin T and I were curious, like much of the country, about the Occupy Wall Street movement. We headed down to Zuccotti Park last weekend and spent over an hour walking through the village that has been created. We both came away unexpectedly moved by what we witnessed. Persons of Note were there as well (Economist Jeffrey Sachs, known for his work to find solutions to poverty):.
